Meghan Trainor godmother of Utopia

As to the booze cruise comments I think that will all depend on how much Royal can keep pricing high on these short sailings. I learned long ago on Royal back in the days of Monarch and Sovereign when they used to drop their 3 and 4 night sailings down to $79-89/pp to fill the ships....when pricing fell below a certain point you didn't want to be on that sailing anymore. I think they will be heavily comping these short sailings to their casino clients....as well as now with Royal's calibration with Hard Rock Casino they are going to be heavily comp'ing those customers also. That may allow Royal to be able to balance out supply and demand enough so that they can keep a higher price point up and not have to drop pricing to nothing to fill up cabins last minute...that will be key to keeping it from becoming that booze cruise atmosphere.

who the godmother or godfather is hasn't seem to impact anything.

Absolutely, I never understood it.  If anything, it just made me envious that they get to cruise free.  None of them ever did anything for my cruises.

classically designated as a One-Hit Wonder (and not of the seas)

I would have been the Godmother for the cost of one free cruise. My rendition of Tequila wows the crowd everytime. (I as perform a fantastically stirring Hot Butter-Popcorn and also Run, Don’t Walk.)

Ever heard of "All About That Base", "Made You Look", or "Dear Future Husband"?

A far cry from a "One Hit Wonder" as far as I'm concerned.

Thankfully Royal has more than one ship.  If Utopia is not for you... Radiance or Vision might be perfect.

That would be a no.

Here's one of her songs/videos. Be careful, though ... the song is definitely an earworm!

Couldn't even get through the whole song.

Honestly never heard of her.

Also royals business plan is bums on seats, 3/4 day short cruises where its only one stop = more passengers per week spending onboard rather than a 7nt port intensive cruise.

They will be a booze cruise aka carnival......

And the one stop is Coco Cay.

My daughter is a mid-tier millennial ... she has her own house, a new car (no loan), and goes on cruises (no credit card debt).  🙂

There are always exceptions.

I've only heard the first and I doubt it will be considered a classic someday as it rarely gets airtime now nor do people seem to be clamoring to do covers of it.

Adding to my list: "Lips Are Moving" (later covered by Pentatonix), "Better When I'm Dancing" (from "The Peanuts Movie"), and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" (later covered by "Us The People"). So people are doing covers of her songs and she's had more than one chart-topper.

Ok, obviously she is on your playlist. That's cool.

I like her and her music and I am in my early 70's.  I have just been noticing her more on commercials and really like the "dog mom", although I am a cat person!  LOL

I am DYING at all this hand-wringing about Meghan freaking Trainor of all people, lmao. Her target audience isn't even young partiers - it's mid-30s suburban moms (not there's anything wrong with that).

From the way y'all are talking you'd think Charli XCX and Troye Sivan were taking over and the whole ship was going to smell like poppers, lol. (Though THAT is something I'd be stoked for)

Yeah her 30 million followers I’m sure it’s not getting any airtime.  Lol.
go to karaoke I’m sure you’ll hear it a few times a night.

Haha yeah, but that's the point I was making - the idea of Meghan Trainor being used to court a market of "partiers" is hilarious to me. Honestly, she's 100% on brand for Royal: 30-45 year old suburban parents with young(ish) kids. It's not like her audience is club kids.

Yeah, I don't get plenty drunk. Enjoy your music and I'll do the same with mine.
