Wheelchair accessible Balcony Room-Alaska

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

What is the best way to locate and reserve a wheelchair accessible room?  Since they are fairly limited (based on my very small research I have done so far), how far in advance do I need to start planning to secure a room like this on an Alaska cruise?

When the bookings first open is the best time to get an accessible cabin for Alaska.  They are prime real estate.  Anywhere from 18 months to 24 months out.

I found that the best way for us was to use a CVP from Princess. The first time we started looking for one for DW's scooter, there were none available on the cruise we was looking at (which seems to be all the time) I finally broke down and after going through a little problems with the first one, Jan Swartz gave me a great one. I told him I was looking at an accessible inside cabin, done where available so he gave us the first available category up (which was a deluxe balcony for an inside price).

There's an inside cabin on ONE ship (AFAIK only one ship). Sapphire Princess on Emerald deck (E310). The couple that showed us the cabin said it was charged as an inside, but the space was like a mini-suite. It was amazing!!

There is an E310 on other ships, but if you look at the deck plans, you can see the difference. The one on the Emerald is double-wide. The other ships that have an E310, there are 2 insides in the same space.

Thanks, but we already have our next cabin already booked. We went with an accessible mini suite because there will be 3 of us in the cabin with 2 scooters.
