RCCL Utopia Earliest Self Disembark est?

Recommended Posts

yet another variation on the would you attempt an 11 am flight out of MCO after self disembarking

SWA changed our flight time home after early Dec sailing

🤬

Moved up, now, 11:05 am

Utopia docks @ 6:30 am. Being early on, no reports on how the disembark process has fared on this ship

did Allure @ PC twice in last 7 months.  Amazes me how quickly they are able to process so many people!

So, barring remote, unforeseen issues that may arise; that would prevent

the ship from being cleared promptly...

could I assume self disembarkation would start @ 6:45 -7 am or would we be talking more like 7:30

am?

factoring into this 'gamble' we would have in hand:

-rental car in pkg garage

-US passports

-TSA pre check

-boarding assignment/passes assigned T -24 hr

-MCO again has efficient curbside luggage check for SWA

-Would have Ability to modify flight same day without extra charge to an evening flight if necessary

yes, I fully admit, am generally in the camp of not rushing off cruise ship.  Do accept the potential for traffic delays etc. to throw a wrench in plans

i just did this on wonder in april. our flight out of mco was at 1045 we were off right around 8am at mco by 845 at our gate by 905. only difference for us was we uber instead of a rental car. why pay for a car to sit there for 2/3 days?

Thanks. Did u do self embark ASAP?

It's a 4 day cruise on Utopia

we fly in for An Orlando parks portion of trip first for a week

Via plugging away at it, Rental rates over the last year for

SUVs there have been averaging $250-280  for the 11 days I tend to book

between Uber costs from mco to Orlando resort & parks, then to port & back to MCO rideshare can add up very quickly.  Especially with surge pricing that sneaks up often there.  even with factoring in parking, gas & tolls, it's generally in same ballpark

i do always price out returning the rental at PC.  that drop fee has gotten higher ever time I check since covid

plus, I like having a car to often eat offsite when at the parks for far better food options and cost

Yes we did self embark.

That's a different situation than I was talking about. You definitely need a car. I usually fly in the morning of or the night before. Stay at one of the airports at the hotel then uber back and forth. Totally different situation!

Enjoy your trip! I'm going on August 16 so when I get off I will report back here how getting off the ship was

An 11 am flight should be very doable.

It's possible you will get more flight changes before your cruise so I wouldn't overthink this early in the planning stage.

Could be. We have several trips in the mix between now & then. I like having my ducks in a row before moving onto planning the next trip

Wanted to rebook a flight that had a decent chance of working out. I've booked early flights out of FLL but, it's less of a concern when you can practically see the airport from the port lol

while trip a good distance away, wanted to change booking to SWA + service where you can change flights same day at will, at no extra charge from original, more restrictive flight.

Just off Utopia this morning. Debarkation was a breeze. We walked off at 7:00am and were on the highway headed home by 7:15.

Very smooth and easy.
