Disembarkation from Greenwich

We are on a BIE cruise in August. I haven't booked our return flight from London. Since we are in Bergen several days before the cruise, we want to return to the states the day we disembark (we spent several days in London two years ago). Will Viking offer transportation to the airport that we can purchase or will we need to arrange that ourselves?

Towards the end of your cruise, your steward will place a form in your cabin for you to fill out and return to guest services if you require a transfer to the airport. Or, you can arrange this with guest services a couple of days before disembarkation.

If you are booking your own flights,  you may purchase transfers from Viking, provided your flights are on disembarkation day. Viking will also tell you the earliest time you should book you flight. You should be able to purchase transfers on MVJ before you board.

 

Regardless of who you hire for transfers, allow at least 5 hours ship to take-off; with the the ship to shore tender, collecting your luggage, the traffic, check-in lines, security lines and the walk to your gate, you will need every minute of it.

To clarify, you must request transportation at least 30 days before departure. I believe you need to fill out a form and send it in. There is no interface to purchase it directly on MVJ.

My experience has been with both of the mentioned options. We have purchase transfers in advance using the transfer form, 30 days before flying.

We have also purchased transfers for disembarkation by filling out the form left in our stateroom, and paying through the shipboard account.

Several days before you disembark, Viking will send out a form asking if you want an airport transfer, and the cost.  We have always received this form towards the end of the cruise, and only used the service once (because we usually extend at both ends).  
 

It is important to pay attention to when Viking will be docking.  They may request that you not have a flight before xxx time.

We too have purchased a transfer onboard a few days before disembarkation.

Same with us.  We have done this twice -- once in Manaus and once in Vancouver.
