Tampa Girl Posted Friday at 06:48 PM #1 Share Posted Friday at 06:48 PM In the past I have used a certain stick-on brand to hang things on the cabin walls. Does anyone remember the name of the brand and if it is still HAL-approved?
Fouremco Posted Friday at 07:35 PM #2 Share Posted Friday at 07:35 PM 3M makes a number of products, such as hooks and adhesive strips, that hold well but can be removed from the wall when finished with no holes, marks, or sticky residue. I don't know whether or not HAL approves any 3M or similar products. When in doubt, magnetic hooks are fine.

However, the person for whom this question is being asked is on Deck1, a J inside unit. Would anyone know is those wall are amenable to magnets? Fouremco Posted Friday at 07:52 PM #4 Share Posted Friday at 07:52 PM What ship? Most HAL ships have walls and ceilings amenable to magnets, but in a recent thread, one ship was mentioned as an outlier. I don't recall which one.

pengu1n Posted Friday at 09:01 PM #7 Share Posted Friday at 09:01 PM I've heard the door frames and ceiling hold magnets on Zuiderdam. I don't know about the sister ships.

They seem rather strong.
Kmangel Posted Friday at 11:34 PM #9 Share Posted Friday at 11:34 PM I put my magnetic hooks on the ceiling on my last cruise even though the walls were magnetic. The hooks from the ceiling can hold more weight and because the ceiling was not too high, I could still easily access what ever was hanging from the hooks.

SusieKIslandGirl Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM #11 Share Posted yesterday at 01:12 AM Are you referring to the 3M Command strips?

We couldn't use magnets on the side walls on Zuiderdam this year, but I tried the outside hull wall next to the window and it was magnetic! I placed my itinerary, etc. there just above my nightstand.

I also have a world map which hangs on a wall during each cruise, highlighting our route as we progress. They were applied, I think, with 3M; but when I removed them on the Zaandam, they did not come off cleanly.

We hang pictures, a calendar, invitations, the daily schedule, musical instruments (ukulele), hats (we've encountered rooms with no hooks), and lanyards at night.
