We will be sailing out of San Juan (Pan American Pier 1, not sure if it is the East or West one yet) hoping to Book here in the next couple of weeks for May of 2025).  Looking for some hotel recommendations for San Juan that are close to the Pier that are decent hotels that are not crazy expensive. Would be great if there are places to eat dinner and breakfast close enough to walk or get a cheap cab also!  Thank you.

A decent 3 Star budget hotel is CasaBlanca… Not adjacent to Pa Am Pier, but in OSJ, being close to many bars and restaurants, with a short cab ride to the port.

We choose Aloft which is right beside the pier for our november cruise.  Its new and part of a new conference center that seems to have plenty of restaurants.  It does look walkable to the pier, although we wont be with all of our luggage.  They do have a shuttle service to OSJ so perhaps they also do pier dropoff given its so close.

DH and I just booked a trip ending in San Juan for next year. I'm in the infant stages of research for hotels and shuttles, etc.

After the cruise is it easy to get a taxi or some other type of transportation from the cruise pier to this hotel?. (I did see an excursion we might like after we're off the boat) We are staying at least 1 night after the cruise and would also need transportation back to the airport the next day. TIA for any help or advice.

There is a huge cab rank at the port, so no problem.  From Hotel there are plenty of taxis passing by, and the Hotel will even call or flag one when ready to leave.

Usually, a passing cab will note suitcases, and stop for a fare ask.

If on a budget, then consider Guesthouses.  They are small basic, no frills, hotel like premises, that offers night stays, but are clean and comfortable.

Some are in great positions inside OSJ.
For one night after long travels, many appreciate they are ideal for somewhere to just crash and sleep,

Plenty of taxis but also keep in mind that Uber works very well in San Juan. Frankly I find the Uber cars nicer than the traditional taxis and they tend to be a little less expensive.

Has anyone ever stayed in the airport hotel?  Doesn't look great but was thinking I could then get a RCCL transfer to the port on the day of the cruise.  Traveling solo if it makes a difference in your recommendation. Thanks.

@20165 Gave this helpful post as an option for a decent 3* hotel close to port.

The cab fare from the airport could be $25.00 - So one thinks the option of Cab, a nice Hotel, then a walk,  Math will hopefully give assistance, and possibly clarity, to one’s dilemma.
