What makes crusing with Carnival so great?

Now THIS I would like! What time is their curfew?

 

I got up at 12:30 one night and went up to lido to get a slice of pizza and what did I see:confused: a group of small camp carnival kids having a party!!! I was shocked, I wanted to tell them all to get they tiny butts back to their cabins and get to bed LOL.

Berry, not necessarily... on the Spirit and Conquest class ships, you have the Supper Clubs, which are $30pp, but WELL worth every penny and then some!!!!. Plus fish and chips, sushi bar, etc. There are plenty of options on the newer ships... Just wanted to point that out since some may not be aware that there are other options beside the dining room and lido deck.

Royal Caribbean's curfew for 17 and under (I think) is 1:00 AM. Obviously, this is too late for younger teens, but it eliminates much discussion with the older ones. It did seem to be enforced on our sailings.

Most definately the people on board. We have met the greatest people while on our Carnival trips which have made these truly the "Fun Ships".

 

That being said and I'm probably going to here it for this one. Im not a big fan of the ships designs or decor or the 2 1/2 hour embarkation process. I have never been on Disney but have friends that have and from their description I'm guessing these may be the things the will stick out for you.

I just want to thank you all for sharing your experience and insight with Carnival Cruise Lines. My daughter does make friends very easily and should not have any trouble finding new friends to hang out with during the cruise.. However, she is an adventurer like her father and is always looking for new things to do on these trips. As for my wife and I, I am sure that we will look forward to the adult activities at night (piano bar sounds great). We really do love DCL but could get to like having a few less crying and screaming young children at dinner (we always do a late seating).

 

It looks like we will probably book a CCL for Late August out of Miami that goes to Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, and San Juan, Grand Turk Island (Ship is the Elation). I just have a concern in that this ship does not have a Balcony room only outside view or Suites.

You will see a significant difference between the Disney ships and the Elation for sure. I am also a big Disney fan, and would be glad to answer any specifics by email. Just use my CC name above @aol.com and be sure to make the subject matter clear - I get a little delete happy sometimes :)

I believe when we cruised on the Pride, we stopped at Half Moon Cay....it was simply beautiful.

 

My then 15 year old daughter had the time of her life with all of her new friends.

 

 

That's the one...I keep getting all my "cays" confused!!!

Our first cruise was with DCL and we had a fantastic time. Besides the obvious (the price) we enjoyed the carnival cruise better because the get more adult involvment in thier activities and thats what we like to participate in. The only thing we missed was the childrens activities are not up to par with Disney, but our children are older now and like more freedom so we don't use the kids programs like we used to.

 

Allthough we loved the Disney thing we would never travel again with them because frankly there was just to much time with nothing going on.

 

here are some comparisons (from my experience)

 

Cost... Carnival's better

 

food... Disney's better

 

Activities... Carnival's better

 

Casino... Carnival better , disney has none

 

Rooms... Carnival's better and bigger

 

Service... they both offer great service

 

Passengers... Carnival better in my opinion. Disney is very family orrientated with little to no night activity. Thats not a bad thing just not for us.

 

Carnival was much more layed back and relaxing for us. We have made alot of really good friends over the years. I am a huge Carnival fan, and probably will never go with Disney again. These are just my opinions hope it helps!

Carnival's rooms are not bigger and better. In fact many Disney cabins have two bathrooms which is very nice.

 

Disney has as much if not more nightlife than Carnival the one glaring difference is the lack of Casino on Disney.

 

I do not think Disney's food is better than Carnivals in fact Carnival has a more upscale dinner menu adn their supper clubs are considered the best afloat.

 

The activities on each are not better or worse but different because they are appealing to different crowds

I think Carnival just has so much to offer. I wouldnt look at another cruise line. They give you so much for the price. First of all the ships are truly amazing. The design of each room is fun and meticulous. Carnival offers activities for all age groups. The ships activities take place in such a way to include everyone and it and i love the fact that things are done in a "never embarass you" fashion. Everyone claps and is very supportive while you are participating. I found the food selections very good. And cabins are efficient. If i'm on a cruise, i don't intend on spending it in my room anyway. Don't hesitate to try Carnival.
