skyscanr Posted April 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Can someone explain the room cats to me . the diff between a 1a and a 5a or a cat 12 suite
welovetocruise1234 Posted April 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2006 a 1a is the lowest category of room, inside lowest floor. The categories go up from there, the higher the better so a 11 or 12 would be a suite. 8's are balconies (depending on ship) ect. 8a would be the lowest balcony, 8b next lowest, ect.. big_duck Posted April 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Cat 1 - Undersized or otherwise "irregular" cabin could be inside or outside. Cat 4 - Regular inside cabin. Cat 5 - Outside with porthole windows. Cat 6 - Regular outside cabin. Cat 7 - Obstructed balcony Cat 8 - Regular balcony Cat 9 - Aft wrap-around balcony (Sprit class these are Cat 11 suites) Cat 11 - Junior Suite (about 1 1/2 times size of regular cabin). Cat 12 - Penthouse suite (double size regular cabin). Letter designates deck hight of a particular catagory with a being the lowest for that particular catagory. Fun~N~Sun Posted April 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Is the balcony on a Cat 11 or 12 any bigger than a Cat 8 balcony?
big_duck Posted April 23, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Is the balcony on a Cat 11 or 12 any bigger than a Cat 8 balcony? Balconies are as long as the cabin is wide, however the suite balconies aren't any deeper.

KruznKel Posted April 23, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Thanks for the info folks . Looks like we will be very happy with our cat 12 room on our up coming cruise then. They are nice cabins.. but I would never pay extra for them.. We had a CAT11 and saw the CAT12.. extra long couch.. little more room and a bidet:eek: I would save the $1200 extra that it would have cost us and go with the 11.. Enjoy your suite!:)
DqALEX Posted April 23, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2006 I was in a cat 12 on the Triumph last year. Not worth the money IMO. There were 5 of us. it would have been better to take 2 cabins and have 2 bathrooms, and opened the balcony. Mine was and upgrade from and 11.
