Aquarius2 Posted April 27, 2006 Author #101 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Aquarius2 I have a question about the Concierge Lounge and/or Diamond Club Lounge. By chance did you get the scoop on the new rules of the Concierge Club.....example, is it going to be just for the suite cabins. It used to be for the all Diamond, Diamond Plus and suite cabins to go in and enjoy a drink before dinner or coffee in the morning, etc. Did you hear anything differently for the Freedom. Please tell me they are not going to do away with this perk for the Diamond and Diamond Plus members......I guess that's my question. Thank you Linda The Diamond Club wasn't staffed and the Concierge Club was occupied with Meetings, so unfortunately I can't help you with that. We will have to wait and see. Bandit236 Posted April 27, 2006 #103 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Thanks for the great pictures. I am getting so excited. Not getting much work done here today but what the heck. Someone mentioned earlier that Sorrento's has more than just pizza. Do you happen to know what else? Thank you.

matt690 Posted April 27, 2006 #105 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Thanks for all the pics and info. Does anyone know how the pizza compared to the pizza on the other ships? Has it improved? Also, what is Jade? Is it free.... is it part of the buffet? Was anything interesting discussed with Mr. Fein and Mr. Goldstein? Thanks! -Matt
shipcafe Posted April 27, 2006 #106 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Does anyone still have the link to where the day-by-day schedule is of what Freedom is during her introduction period? It was in German.

Yes, Jade is Part of the Windjammer-Buffet, buf offers Asian Food only (Lunch and Dinner), however, for Breakfast you will find the usual Breakfast-Items on there. The most interesting thing, which Mr. Goldstein said, was that RCI wants to cover the whole World sooner or later with their Products. This was his reply, when a Journalist asked him regarding a future Asia-Deployment of a Ship. No firm Dates given yet though... I have not seen the family promenade stateroom, only the family ocean view stateroom. Not that this helps, but here are some pics. It will be similar. Brandis Posted April 28, 2006 #113 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Someone asked about the prices in the barber shop. I had a shave, which was $43, I think a men's hair cut was 17. They had another shave package with scapl massage etc. but that was already over $100! Didn't try the pizza at Sorento's but their desserts were so delicious. The casino and the shops were open during the cruise from Hamburg to Oslo. Not sure if they have this already on other ships, but the slot machines on Freedom accept your Seapass. Dangerous. :-) Marc
zotzer Posted April 28, 2006 #114 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Marc, It looked like your superior balcony room had only one chair instead of a loveseat or sofa. Is this right? Maybe there are two chairs instead of a loveseat? Tracy
Schplinky Posted April 28, 2006 #115 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Tracy, I'm just guessing here but sometimes they substitute a chair for a love seat when the room is a connecting one, so they have a place to put the door.
Brandis Posted April 28, 2006 #116 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Schplinky is right, in non-connecting rooms they do have sofas. Marc
zotzer Posted April 28, 2006 #117 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Ahhhh, okay! Thanks for clarifying. The connecting room I was in (on the Radiance) had the door on the other side of the room (the side with the dresser/storage), and it was all the way in the front near the balcony sliding door. Cool, we'll have the sofa in our room. :) Tracy

Dynamictwo Posted April 29, 2006 #120 Share Posted April 29, 2006 My wife and I are on the first paying cruise of the Freedom on 6/4/06, and we will let you know more about the Diamond Club privileges regarding the Concierge Club. We have had those privileges for quite a while since we have done 22 RCCL cruises. The possibility of losing those privileges was always there since it was likely that the number of members exceeding 10 cruises has to be growing weekly. Am I upset? -- a little but not enough to make it ruin my vacation. Especially since right now we don't really know all of the facts. But if it turns out that those privileges have really shrunk, it might convince me to go elsewhere when the opportunity rises. Right now, when it is RCCL or someone else, I tend to go with RCCL. Who else besides RCCL and Celebrity gives you free photos, $5 match plays and $12 for $10 in the casino, etc.? What about all the other freebies? What about the $100 off when you book a balcony cabin? But I have been on Princess (4X), Carnival (9X)and Holland American (4X) also, and many other cruises. Guess what--if you are taking a cruise for wonderful food and larger cabins, Carnival actually wins. But when you roll in the whole package, my favorite is still Celebrity and RCCL. Hopefully that will not change!
FitzLA Posted April 29, 2006 #121 Share Posted April 29, 2006 Schplinky is right, in non-connecting rooms they do have sofas. Marc I looked at his room on the deckplans to see if it was connecting and it was not. I too noticed that there was only one chair and no sofa. I wonder why since it was not a connecting room. Maybe the difference in size between the rooms on voyager class and Freedom class prohibit the sofa. They are a wee bit smaller. For me, I don't need the sofa anyway. But I imagine some would. zotzer Posted April 29, 2006 #122 Share Posted April 29, 2006 I looked at his room on the deckplans to see if it was connecting and it was not. Fitz, It was Marc's room (the one who took, and posed for, the pics.) :) He said it had a door. Maybe you are mixing up reporters. Heavens knows, we've been blessed with several of them! FitzLA Posted April 29, 2006 #123 Share Posted April 29, 2006 According to the captions under the pics, this is his room which was statroom 8302. 8302 is not a connecting stateroom. And there is no door in his room, unless he got his room numbers mixed up. There is, however, a pullman bed available in this room. This is a room cat E1 which is the smallest of the balcony rooms. I have a feeling no sofas in the E1 and E2 rooms.
Schplinky Posted April 29, 2006 #124 Share Posted April 29, 2006 Fitz, I think he is sitting next to the door. That's an odd hall-way outside his room. Why would there be a handrail? Based on the carpeting, it might be a service corridor.
zotzer Posted April 29, 2006 #125 Share Posted April 29, 2006 Fitz, Madforcruisin graciously posted lots of cabin pics...a couple of E2 hump cabins included. They have the loveseats. She got some different cabins that weren't on the list. I was particularly psyched about 7334 and 6344, as they will be VERY similar to my E2 hump. Look at the second freedom album on her site: http://www.gwall.de/Engl/indexenglish.htm Tracy
