John&Betty Posted February 18, 2007 #201 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Hi Cyscopup, What month are you sailing? Here's the port web site that shows the schedule. http://www.portvancouver.com/vanAlaCruise/content/schedule/index.php? John
hansolo Posted February 18, 2007 #202 Share Posted February 18, 2007 The infinity leaves from Canada Place. I live in Burnaby and from Metrotown to downtown it would take about 30 minutes. Downtown vancouver are mostly 1 way streets. And there is Alamo right at Canada Place. Hope this helps.
ell52 Posted February 18, 2007 #203 Share Posted February 18, 2007 The infinity leaves from Canada Place. According to the Port of Vancouver 2007 schedule, this is incorrect. The Infinity shows as leaving from Ballantyne Pier.

Maureen4 Posted February 18, 2007 #207 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Does the Vancouver trolley sell tickets outside Canada Place or should I purchase them on line?
ell52 Posted February 18, 2007 #208 Share Posted February 18, 2007 You can buy trolley tickets directly from the driver.
LeftcoastBC Posted February 18, 2007 #209 Share Posted February 18, 2007 How far from the cruise terminal are we? Do you have any idea if it isCanada Place or the other pier that Infinity is using this year? About 6 miles. Easy access Willingdon to freeway to mcGill to Ballantyne pier. Sunday morning will take you about 15 mins. to pier. When are you going?

(With a late arrival, we'll be staying at a hotel close to the airport, and taking the Vancouver shuttle to Canada Place the next morning.) It is a dock area..that's it. Same for the train it's only a $10 cab ride to main hotels/CanadaPlace or Ballantyne.

BigBlue120 Posted March 4, 2007 #216 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Great site. Great thread. We're cruising in Aug, and plan to be in Vancouver for 3 days prior. We'll fly in on Friday, and board the cruise ship on Monday (Princess). Should we book through Princess, or just do it on our own? Victoria Gardens and Chinatown seem to be the 2 must sees for us. BigBlue120 Posted March 4, 2007 #217 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Sounds like it's between the Pan Pacific and the Four Seasons... Thoughts on the better location and/or view? It sounds like they are both outstanding hotels.

We'll fly in on Friday, and board the cruise ship on Monday (Princess). Should we book through Princess, or just do it on our own? The only reason I can think of for booking with a cruise line is to take advantage of any flight deals or specific hotels deals you may have/get with them..if not, booking yourself is generally cheaper. Victoria Gardens and Chinatown seem to be the 2 must sees for us. By Victoria garden I assume you mean Butchart gardens on Vancouver Island. This is really not a day trip without a car and even then time would be short and I would recommend a night over there. A two hour ferry trip each way is involved unless you fly. They are spectacular. Sounds like it's between the Pan Pacific and the Four Seasons... Thoughts on the better location and/or view? It sounds like they are both outstanding hotels. Pan Pacific is bettter for views you are overtop of Canada Place. Both hotels are just fine :)
BigBlue120 Posted March 4, 2007 #219 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Hotels -- Yeah, just google earthed it and it looks like PP is on the water, and closer to the cruise ship docks... Re: Gardens.. Can't swear to anything by name, only that we're going to see some spectacular gardens... We'll chat with the TA about pricing via them, princess, and compare to what we've checked online. Thanks for the feedback... more always welcome.

Ballantyne to Amtrak will be about 15 mins. $10 or so plus tip and there are lockers there for your lugage. Trains Busses use the station and across the road is a skytrain station to get you about the town.
jonsey Posted March 17, 2007 #222 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Hallo just need to ask 2 questions can you recommend a good fresh alaskan crab leg restraunt that is all I want when we sail into YVR in May. and have a choice of 2 hotels but cannot choose the most suitable The Rennasance Waterfront or The Sutton we like quiet elegance and no construction noise that is why i said no to Fairmont Waterfront. Which one do you recommend. thank you for keeping up this thread sarah:confused::confused::confused::confused:
LeftcoastBC Posted March 17, 2007 #223 Share Posted March 17, 2007 The Sutton without any doubt... Your crab question is a bit odd. :) Are you not going to Alaska ? :D Although I know there will be some on the menu's here we specialise in Dungeness crab from local waters which is on at all good restaurants.. jonsey Posted March 18, 2007 #224 Share Posted March 18, 2007 No sorry did not explain we are arriving in YVR from Sydney on the Sapphire and then flying home. Just wondered if a restraunt in Vancouver specialises in fresh seafood esp crab and lobsters that you can recommend as excellent. Thanks on accom advise Sutton is booked:o:o:o thank you in advance sarah
LeftcoastBC Posted March 18, 2007 #225 Share Posted March 18, 2007 The Cannery Stanley Park Fish house Joe Fortes Kettle of Fish There are some smaller places that I have heard about that have great food but I'm sorry I can't recall the names. The locals know them but as I'm about 100 K out in the valley I don't have that real local touch. Those I name I have been there and are very nice.
