Taking Beer on the ship

This will be our first cruise on carnival, we were wondering about bringing beer on board and a ice chest.

we are sailing on the Pride 4/15/2007

You shouldn't have any problem taking some beer aboard as they allow a "reasonable" amount. Take 1 or 2 twelve packs aboard and you can bring more aboard in a backpack at port-stops, if you need more. Take a soft sided/collapsible cooler that holds 6-12 cans and your room steward will fill it with ice twice a day. You don't want to be lugging an ice chest aboard, nor do you really have room for it. A small collapsible one from Walmart works great.

Unless things have changed they do not allow a reasonable amount of beer, only soda and water. You can take a couple bottles of wine in your carryon. However, beer will have to be smuggled in your checked luggage. If they discover it they will confiscate it. Same goes at ports, they will keep it for you until the last nite. CCL has a good bon voyage gift that includes a small collapsible cooler just right for taking to the pool, a mug, a cap and 4 beers for $27. The beer alone would cost you $20 so that is a good deal. True, 4 beers don't last long, but you get the cap and a small cooler for the pool. Ours leaked a little but who cares at the pool and we just left it in the trash when our cruise ended. Good luck with your smuggles:)

From what I have read, wine, beer, soda, water you can carry on. We are using a rolling carryon to bring some beer, wine and pepsi, also green tea. So if they take our 12 pack, big deal. We purchase onboard also. :o

A case fits perfectly in one of the smaller roll on bags, which we pack with clothes for the next day (we always fly in the day before, so it is nearly empty.) We buy the beer in FL then add the beer to the suitcase with our dirty clothes from the previous day for padding. We drop this with the porter. Never a problem.
