Krazy Kruizers Posted July 5, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted July 5, 2006 I forgot to mention Seward. As this was an intransit day, we had planned on taking the trolley into town. We had inquired and were told that the new price is now $7 per person for all day off and on. When we got outside the terminal we were informed that the trolley wasn't running that day and that HAL had arranged for 2 free shuttle buses to take crew and passengers back and forth from town. Besides the 35 of us who were staying on the ship for the return cruise to Vancouver, there were quite a few Vantage and Van Gard people who were not scheduled to depart the ship until early afternoon - some left at 12:30 - others left between 1 and 1:30. In cluding the crew, there were a lot of us wanting to go to town. We had no problems getting into town - did have to wait 20 minutes for the bus. There is a lot of road construction going going on and our bus couldn't take the direct route right to down. Our bus driver did an excellent job getting her big Grey Line bus around some tight corners. We had already been to the Sea life Center so we spent a couple of hours wondering the town and shops - thankfully it wasn't pouring rain like we had the last time we were here - just a couple of sprinkles. But getting the bus back to the ship was another matter. We had originally been told that there were 2 buses running. Well there wasn't. It seems that so many people had completely their disembarkation forms for leaving the ship that one of the buses had to be pulled to take extra people to the Anchorage Airport. That left one bus to do all the shuttleling. We waited 45 mintues for the bus. In stead of going directly back to the ship we decided to stop at North Harbor and have a seafod lunch at Ray's - great food - chowder really excellent - highly recommend this place. Didn't have any trouble getting the bus back to the ship. Big crunch was over by this time and our driver didn't have to do any side trips. Had a great day in Seward.
