PrincessDreams4P&B Posted July 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2006 Sorry if someone has posted this previously but I haven't read about it anywhere yet. I called to get some info on my upcoming cruise and was told that they are now offering "Ice Cream Creation Cards" for $17.50. They include 10 sundaes and 6 (or 7 she wasn't exactly sure) malts/milkshakes. Seemed like a great deal and the cards come with a little note card that you can personalize and they will be waiting in the cabin when you get there. I got 2, one for each kid but I am sure that they will share with Mom and Dad as it seems like alot of ice cream for a week. What a nice touch, this way kids feel like they can have their own "spending card" without giving them access to Dad's Amex. Great idea for people looking to get kids something for their cruise!! I always have something waiting for each member of my family when they board--my DDs would enjoy this! Did you order from Customer Service? Can you arrange to have it in the cabin when you board? thanks for the info!! Jayne :D
Laurab23 Posted July 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2006 I would like to hear more about this, too. Can you buy them onboard? Laura
Rare Coral Posted July 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2006 I think it is a great idea also! I usually don't eat a lot of ice cream but visited Sundae's twice last cruise and it was incredible - the amount of toppings they give you for the price is excellent. PrincessDreams4P&B Posted July 9, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 9, 2006 You can buy them on board or through Customer Service (1-800 Princess). If you order it ahead of time, they will have it in your cabin when you arrive. It seems like a good deal, this being our first cruise and all I think I remember reading that icream was $3.00 or so, this more than pays for itself and I love the idea that the kids have it without being attached to my credit card. awhcruiser Posted July 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 9, 2006 Is this for all Princess ships, or just a few????
wineandbeach Posted July 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 9, 2006 We tried to get them for our kids but they told us that the 10 is only for a cone or scoop. the Sundaes were only 6. can't remember exact prices but it turned out you were saving a very little bit (less than .50) by getting the card. There may not be the savings but it is something parents can give their kids so they can get ice cream when they want - verses having charge capabilities on the kids card. SueMLewis Posted July 9, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2006 Can you get the card on all of the ships if not which one offers it? This is the first I've heard about it.
PrincessDreams4P&B Posted July 9, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted July 9, 2006 Okay, apparently (big surprise) what I was told was a little off. The $17.50 Ice Cream Creation Card entitles bearer to 10 regular sundaes or 5 Mega Sundaes. Milkshakes are not included. The card is available on Princess fleet except for: Tahitian Regal Pacific I still like the idea of pre paying for this, so it is one less thing on my bill at the end of the cruise. Even if it is not a big money saver, it is a help defraying that huge bill I know is coming at the end.
john kaz Posted July 10, 2006 #12 Share Posted July 10, 2006 OK OK, Has anyone received the same information twice from Princess what you get with these cards? And are you really saving money?
EKELLEY Posted July 11, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 11, 2006 PrincessDreams4P&B, Since you bought the ice cream cards for your kids, when you get back from your cruise will you post what you actually got with them?
fti Posted July 12, 2006 #14 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I will just eat the free ice cream in the afternoons and at dinner I totally agree. Seems like it is another Princess-concoted way to take money out of our pockets. Soda cards, coffee cards, bottled water for sale, T-shirts, watches, jewelry, art, photos. You name it, they sell it. Don't get me wrong - I loved my cruise. But there was an extraordinarily high degree of commercialism present on the ship all week long. My friend did a calculation on the soda cards and she would have had to drink 3 soft drinks/day in order to make the soft drink card worthwhile. Many people don't realize that and buy it anyway. Many drink more than that and it is a bargain for them. Even with our warm weather in Alaska last week I didn't have ice cream once! John
