People ask every so often about what can be ordered:

 

Available 24 hours:

 

Smoked Atlantic Salmon - pickled red onion, capers & cream cheese

 

Mesclun Garden Greens - tomato, cucumber, alfalfa sprouts & blue cheese crumbles

 

Triple Decker Club Sandwich - sliced turkey, ham, bacon, tomato & lettuce served on toated bread of your choice

 

All American Hamburger - broiled 1/4 pound beef patty on a sesame bun with dill pickle & coleslaw - add cheddar or Swiss cheese

 

Open faced Omelet - ham & cheese or vegetables

 

Selection of assorted cheese with crackers

 

Apple tart with whipped cream

 

Chocolate cake with raspberry sauce

 

A plate of chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk

 

Fruit salad - selected fruits in season

Caesar salad - tossed with Caesar dressing, croutons & parmesan - add bay shrimp or grilled chicken breast

All are served with a choice of potato salad or potato chips

 

Triple decker club sandwich

Broiled California chicken breast sandwich on multi=grain bread with avocado & honey mustard sauce

Grilled tuna melt - tuna salad & Swiss cheese on rye bread with pickle spears

Thai Vegetarian wrap - eggplant, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts & cilantro rolled with rice & grees curry sauce in a tomato tortilla

Steak sandwich - sirloin steak on sourdough bread sauteed with onion & bell pepper

All American Hamburger

 

Entrees:

Seared salmon steak - dill-lime fusion, broccoli florets, carrot batonnet & country mashed potatoes

Penne Primavera - tossed in marinara sauce with Italian roasted vegetables - add grilled chicken breast

Pizza:

margarita (tomato sauce & cheese)

Pepperoni

Vegetarian (mushroom & bell pepper)

 

Desserts:

Apple tart

Chocolate cake

Creme caramel surrounded in berry compote

And remember that you can always order from the dinner menu. Just remember to order within the first half hour from when the dinning room opens. You can select whatever time you want to eat.

 

PS - we have ordered the cheese and crackers from time to time and this was the worst that we have ever had. We got 4 tiny pieces of cheese and 3 packages of crackers. For cheeses we got the Pepper-jack, American, Brie, and Gruyere and each one was just a bite!! There wasn't any Edam or Gouda.

We love Gouda and Edam - rarely saw them even in the Lido!!! (And never in the Neptune Lounge either.)

I enjoy the sliced cheeses and meats for breakfast in the Lido. Some mornings they've had smoked Gouda and Edam. Yum! Hope they haven't eliminated them from the selection. I don't sail on HAL for American and pepperjack. :eek:

I can vouch for the grilled tuna melt and club sandwiches, both are delicious. Thanks Yonnie for posting, I`m sure it`s a big help for newbies.........jean:cool:

We don't eat in our room all that much -but on the Pacific Rim cruise last fall I got that upper-respiratory crap -and I stayed in my room for several days until it was not a coughing/problem. I ordered dinner from the dining room menu nightly -and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal; I certainly wish the person in the Casino who was coughing/snorting and KNEW he was sick had done that!..........

While in port (obviously :D), we're gonna be off the ship running around from 3pm until 9:30pm, so we won't be around "within the first half hour of when the dining room opens."

 

Would we be able to procure a dinner menu and somehow order earlier....or will we be restricted to the room service menu?

The dinner menu is posted outside of the DR from early in the daytime, you could check it then and maybe talk to the Maitre D` about ordering earlier.....jean:cool:

I don't think the problem would be the ordering. The menu is available and I see no reason you couldn't order before you leave for shore.

 

I think the greater issue would be whether they would agree to serve you dinner through room service at say 10 o'clock, by the time you were back on the ship and ready to eat. And this is just a thought because I don't know if they normally will serve from the dinner menu after dinner hours.

I'm thinking the same thing, Peaches. I think the 'kitchen may be closed' for dinner service at that late hour.

 

Not even the entire Room Service menu is available 24 hours. Some items are only available between certain hours.

That's why I posted 2 lists. So everyone could see what is availbale all day and is available from noon until 10 PM.

 

I also doubt that you could get the dinner menu ordered for your cabin say around 10 o'clock at night. After all, they have to have time to close down and clean up to get ready for the very early bakers to get started.

And it would also mean keeping all the dinner dishes ordered tasting freshly cooked and at the right temperature long after the entrees were served in the dining room.

 

I know what we would do is either eat on shore, though that might be impossible depending upon excursions plans, or come back to your cabin, shower and order room service French Onion Soup, a fabulous Triple Decker Club Sandwich, and Apple Tart. That's actually one of the best meals on the ship. :D

It amazes me that it was only the last 2 or 3 cruises that we ever had dinner in our cabin. It was delightful and, perhaps, we may do so on our upcoming Maasdam cruise.......the second week, after our friends have left.

wow, this is a little different from NCL and a few other lines: Although we really rarely order room service we will on the Amsterdam just for the fun of it.

I've already factored at least one room service breakfast, one room service lunch, and one room service dinner to be enjoyed on my "suite" balcony during our cruise.

 

Here's my "one" question: If you have the time (and the listing), could you post the Room Service Menu choices for breakfast fare? I'd like to have an Eggs Benedict Breakfast Party on my corner balcony, while we are sailing, for the six other members of our traveling group (plus myself and DH). What a way to start the day...I'd not have any difficulty waking up that day, if I can pull this "wish" together!

Are you in an S suite? The concierge has all the menus and will make all your arrangements. You won't have to do anything and you wouldn't order for an Eggs Benedict party for 8 people off the regular room service breakfast menu anyway. Everything will be taken care of when you are onboard. She also can see to it that there are Bloody Marys and you can call it 'brunch'. Have fun.

Let me add my thanks for your posting the menu, Krazy Kruizers! Since my last voyage on a HAL ship, I think they have added a few items to the menu.

 

I have had the impression that Room Service items--at least for Breakfast-- come from a different galley than the main dining room galley or the Lido Restaurant galley. I don't remember exactly what he said, but something that a Room Service Steward once said to me gave me this impression. Does anyone know if there is a separate galley just for Room Service?

Eggs Benedict is not always available via Room Service. We could not get it on Zuiderdam three of our five cruises on her. ??? Don't know why.

 

I imagine if you arrange in advance with the Concierge, she should be able to set it up for you. I quite expect she'd be happy to put together a breakfast gathering for you and your travel companions.

Breakfast Menu - the form that is put on your pillow every night (this time it was on a very plain white card and had you check off your "preferred time-frame (which didn't work out for us)):

 

Juices:

orange, cranberry, prune, grapefruit, V-8, tomato

 

Fresh fruit:

half grapefruit, sliced oranges, seasonal melon, sliced bananas, mixed fruit, stewed prunes

 

Low fat yogurt:

plain, fruit

 

Breads:

Eglish muffin(1), white toast (2), wheat toast (2), rye toast (2), danish (1), croissant (2), blueberry muffin (1), bran muffin (1), bagel (1)

 

Preserves:

assorted jams, marmalade, honey, butter, margarine, cream cheese

 

Cereals:

corn flakes, special -k, mueslix (packaged), raisin bran, granola, fruit loops, frosted flakes, rice krispies, shredded wheat

with: milk, 2% milk, skim milk

 

Eggs and meats:

two eggs: scrambled, sunnyside up, over easy

omelette: with cheese, with ham and cheese

eggbeaters: scrambled, omelette with cheese, omelette with ham and cheese

meats: ham(2), sausage(2), bacon(3)

 

Beverages:

coffee regular, coffee decaf, tea, hot chocolate, milk, 2% milk, skim milk, half & half
