CruiseNut7 Posted August 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2006 mma3 - welcome to Cruise Critic! :) Attire - are you asking about formal nights or smart casual evenings for dinner? Excursions - what is your itinerary? You will find tons of info and resources here, but do let us know where you are sailing. ;) Your first cruise - how exciting! spongerob Posted August 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2006 Hi, and welcome! We've sailed Grand Princess 5 times now, and will be on her again in a few months. I'm assuming that you are sailing from Galveston. Be aware that you will probably have at least two ports where you are required to use tenders to get to shore (smaller boats that transport people from ship to shore). This might be difficult if your grandmother has limited mobility but the ship's crew are usually very good about helping people on and off. They usually can't load power chairs, so if one is needed ashore you might be out of luck there. As for dress, most nights it's "country-club casual", so slacks and a decent shirt are fine, no shorts. Formal nights, just dress as if it were a special occasion and you'll be okay. There is a lot of information on this website. If you have specific questions, there is likely someone here who can help.
