Rare Lois R Posted May 31, 2009 #651 Share Posted May 31, 2009 I didn't realize there was an East coast and west coast priceline site:confused::eek: Hi Carol..there is not...but if you look on the ports of call forum there is an EAST COAST, WEST COAST and Florida has a forum all its own. So, if you are booking something for Vancouver it should be on the West Coast Forum...it really won't help anyone who is looking for a Miami hotel...and vice-versa. Alaska05 Posted May 31, 2009 #652 Share Posted May 31, 2009 Some winning bids for my August Alaska cruise from Vancouver on the Serenade of the Seas.DT Seatle 4 *-Westin Seatle-8/26-2 nights-$80 per night with taxes-$96 DT Vancouver 4* Pan Pacific-8/28-$85-with taxes-$106 Airport Seatle 3*-Double tree 9/5-$40with taxes-$53 That's a fantastic price on the Pan Pacific -- congrats. I want to stay there the night before our cruise, but don't want to use Priceline because there are so many 4* hotels in downtown Vancouver. Right now we have a room booked at the Marriott Pinnacle using reward points. I've been watching Hotwire where the PP is a 5* and looks like about 1-2 weeks out the Pan Pacific will show up in the $111 range. I still have a couple weeks to go. Does anyone know if you bid a little bit higher on Priceline (rather than lowballing) if you will have a better chance of getting the Pan Pacific? mdreher2 Posted June 1, 2009 #654 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Help.... I have never bid on any of the sites. I am confused, do you bid on a specific hotel, according to the star rating, or the area? I am very much interested in trying.
Rare Lois R Posted June 1, 2009 #655 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Help.... I have never bid on any of the sites. I am confused, do you bid on a specific hotel, according to the star rating, or the area? I am very much interested in trying. Hi:) you bid on zones and star ratings...you don't find out which hotel it is until after your bid is accepted. So, no, you don't bid on an exact property. But usually when you bid on 3 or 4 star hotels you get a nice place:D Also, you only bid on Priceline. Hotwire is no bidding.

mdreher2 Posted June 1, 2009 #657 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Thanks a lot. I guess I will have to try it sometime. Does anyone ever bid on a five star? Just wondering. Thanks again.
The_Big_M Posted June 1, 2009 #658 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Does anyone know if you bid a little bit higher on Priceline (rather than lowballing) if you will have a better chance of getting the Pan Pacific? No, bidding higher isn't a reliable way to improve your chance of a particular property. If you do want a particular one, you're best off selecting the property in priceline or seeing if the extra details in hotwire help.

lindalo5032 Posted June 2, 2009 #660 Share Posted June 2, 2009 Bid 6/1/09 on Priceline $40.00 - First Bid Accepted Date of Stay: 8/1/09 - one night Won: Red Lion Airport Location - Seattle Had hoped to get Doubletree, as some have reported, for $40.00, but ended up with Red Lion. I knew from my research it would be either Red Lion or Doubletree. My only concern with Red Lion is that I have read reviews on Trip Advisor that reported bed bugs  Certainly hope that problem is resolved by now! At any rate, we DID get a good rate! Priceline Not just a peak for summer, but many groups are going to Seattle in July. Big Vet conference in Early July. There was an article in the paper here this morning about how some eco-groups are trying to get the "fish throwers" banned from throwing the fish for the tourists. They have been booked for a private event for the Vets.
kathynorth Posted June 16, 2009 #675 Share Posted June 16, 2009 OK, so we got frustrated and after days of bidding under $100 decided to book over. We ended up with 2 rooms at the Westin postcruise July 10-13 at the Westin at $110 per night each. We are also staying precruise at the airport Red Lion for $40.
