elsje Posted January 1, 2007 #51 Share Posted January 1, 2007 I have been bidding on Priceline for the past 6 weeks for a resort and/or 3-* from $65 up to $135 and never got an offer ~ yesterday 12/31/2006 I checked out Hotwire and clicked on their 3-* for $134 (excl. taxes) and got the Sheraton ~ for $163 including taxes. Not bad ~ and Carnival docks right at pier #4 in front of the Sheraton eliminating taxi cost. ~ Els

Sheffie Posted January 2, 2007 #54 Share Posted January 2, 2007 You can bid again just add an area that DOES NOT have a resort and raise your bid by maybe 5.00. The other area will not accept because they don't have a resort but SJ might!!! Some are getting the Caribe Hilton now for around 80.00 or so! Keep trying. Good Luck! What area does NOT have the resorts? Thanks for the help.
curlyd Posted January 3, 2007 #55 Share Posted January 3, 2007 What area does NOT have the resorts? Thanks for the help. The way to figure it out is - when you get to the screen where you have to pick a zone highlight one zone only ie Dorado, when you mark the box next to Dorado with a check you then will see down below that there is no option to hightlight "Resort". So that tells you that Dorado doesn't have resorts. If I have explained it well enough you should be able to figure out the second zone. If I did a poor job then hopefully someone else can explain it better to help you figure out the second zone.
LA_FadeAway Posted January 5, 2007 #56 Share Posted January 5, 2007 I've been trying for a while to find a room for our first night in Puerto Rico (4/21/07) before we go exploring for a week prior to our cruise. We get in late and just need a comfortable place to sleep. I usually have good luck with Priceline, but this time I couldn't get anything to come up for the Resort level, even up to $155. I finally started bidding on 3* up to $100, they gave me a counter offer of $122, so I took it and ended up with the Normandie. Definitely not my first choice, but it will do. 4/21 seems to be a tough night to get a room. A lot of places are already sold out that night for some reason. LA_FadeAway Posted January 10, 2007 #57 Share Posted January 10, 2007 I have been trying for several days bidding anywhere from $70 - $125 for a San Juan Resort and finally scored the Marriott at $115 for three nights (4/25 - 4/28) pre cruise. Just thought I'd share this in case anyone else is trying for that week.

Kim in CA Posted January 17, 2007 #63 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Ms. Cruise, This was the very first time I have used priceline. I just decided to go for it based upon the number of folks who got this hotel for a good price. I am not sure why I chose $70 instead of $65, but I did. It was accepted the very first time. What dates will you be there? Kim

Cruiser-66 Posted January 24, 2007 #65 Share Posted January 24, 2007 Just found out my flight schedule has changed and I will have to spend one night post cruise in San Juan. What price should I bid for a resort hotel. I need it on Feb. 10th, which is real soon! Pre-cruise were staying at the Caribe Hilton, which I got for $70. That's a good deal, but they are all booked as most other hotels. My only thinking is that if one hotel has rooms they may be glad to move them this close. Has anyone else had this situation? Lisa0719 Posted January 26, 2007 #67 Share Posted January 26, 2007 knutsonl - we have a similar, but different, situation for the same night ---- Feb 10. At the very last moment my sister and her husband have decided to cruise with us. We had booked 1 room for that night pre-cruise via Priceline - $70 ---- now, of course, my sister is trying to book same hotel -- willing to pay full price, however the hotel which still has vacancies will only book for 2 nights. We have called and called and spoken with management and they will not let her book one night. The plan is to go without a reservation and see if they can book that same day. If not, we are all going to stay in our King bed room!!!! I also tried to get them to agree to 2 beds in our room but they won't do that either. Said they can't change priceline reservation, but when I contact priceline they say that for specific room types to contact hotel --- big circle. I know the priceline rule is 2 people only per room but its not like my sister isn't trying to get them to give her a room. Hope we don't get kicked out. LiLBxQt Posted January 29, 2007 #68 Share Posted January 29, 2007 I am looking to go through priceline for a resort room for 1 night pre-cruise for Sat, May 19th. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to begin the bidding at... I was looking for someone who posted with the closest date and it seems that $70 for the beginning of june for the caribe was a pretty good deal KIM !!!!!! I'm hoping to get something similar... JXR Posted January 29, 2007 #69 Share Posted January 29, 2007 I would start the bidding at $70 for "Resort" in San Juan area. If that is rejected, I would add "Mayagez" and bid $75. If that is rejected, you can add "Dorado", and go to $80. I am staying at the Caribe Hilton on April 27, and I got it for $70. My winning bid was accepted last October. Good Luck Joanne
LiLBxQt Posted January 30, 2007 #70 Share Posted January 30, 2007 i have no idea how all of you got those places for so low... i couldnt even get a 2 star for $65 bucks !!!!! can it be because im requesting 2 nights as oppossed to 1? very upset... i thought it was going to be a piece of cake considering the prices everyone has been getting them at
sunlover5 Posted January 30, 2007 Author #71 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Just keep trying!! I started bidding probably last summer for this Feb. 25. I got my bid accepted in Oct. for 75.00 a night. (others were getting it for 65, 70) but I got rejected for those prices!!:( I received it for 3 nights so 2 nights shouldn't be a problem. I only bid for a resort though and kept trying. I got the Caribe Hilton. DH and I are very happy with that since we'll be staying 3 nights!! Good Luck!!
LiLBxQt Posted January 30, 2007 #72 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Bid for 1 room, 2 nights @ $125 was finally accepted at the Resort Level!! We received the San Juan Marriott Hotel & Stellaris Casino :) This is approximately half the price of what the room normally costs so I'm happy
cruiseshipgurl Posted January 31, 2007 #73 Share Posted January 31, 2007 I stayed at the Marriott Stellaris last year (bid through Priceline) and I will be staying again this year. We loved it. I bid way early to get it......I bid on March 28, 2006 for our stay which will be next week. I got two nights, two rooms, for $100 each, including all the taxes $463.00. Not bad for four people. I chose the "Resorts" category on Priceline.....I was hoping that I would get it again this year, and I did. I think last year I paid a bit more, $105 for a room. WELL worth it. We stayed one night last year, saw the Rolling Stones, and cruised out the next day. This year we are staying two days pre-cruise since we liked San Juan so much (no Stones show, though this year :( !) - but we liked our rooms, loved the pool, the beach, the location, etc. You can't go wrong!!
