leftyrn Posted June 8, 2007 #151 Share Posted June 8, 2007 Bids of $65, $70, and $75 all rejected for resort level in San Juan on Priceline for August 11th. Anyone have any luck for August dates yet? Am I simply too late? No I think you might be too early. Have a back up hotel in the event you are not lucky and keep trying even up to one to two weeks before you go...that is what has worked for me in the past. Good Luck
Rare Lois R Posted June 8, 2007 #152 Share Posted June 8, 2007 Too early for 2 months away?  I respectfully disagree.....I booked last month for March 2008:D
JXR Posted June 8, 2007 #153 Share Posted June 8, 2007 Too early for 2 months away?  I respectfully disagree.....I booked last month for March 2008:D From past experience, it seems that they only release a few rooms that far in advance. Usually, they will release more closer to the date. Depending of course on their occupancy rate. I would book a cancellable back-up, and try right up to departure. Good Luck !!! Rare Elizabeth K. Posted June 16, 2007 #155 Share Posted June 16, 2007 I'm trying to use PL for 2 rooms in Feb 08 for San Juan. Why does it automatically check other star options after it declines my offer? Then they are disabled so I can't undo them. The first time I was bidding resort, and on a rebid, I checked Dorado. Not accepted, but then PL checked 3 star, so I couln't rebid cuz I didn't want a 3 star in Dorado. A couple days later I bid again on resort, it wasn't accepted, and boutique was checked by PL and I couldn't undo it. Today I bid on San Juan, 3 star. Not accepted, and PL checked boutique and resort. So I thought, OK fine, and added $10 to my bid to try again, and PL said I needed to change something from my original bid. Why wasn't PL's added checks considered a change? I am new at this but tried to do some homework before attempting to bid. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Elizabeth:)

Thanks, Elizabeth:) The reason that they are greyed out is that those selections cannot be chosen on 2nd. bid. They should be greyed out, but not checked off. Priceline will not let you upgrade on your 2nd bid, but will let you downgradge star categories. So, if you bid 3 Star on the first try, and you are denied, you will not be able to bid on a Resort. What I do when I bid on a Resort and it is rejected, I add another location (for example Dorado), and increase my bid. Go to http://www.biddingfortravel.com to familiarize yourself with the free-rebid strategy. Joanne

Olwyn Posted June 24, 2007 #158 Share Posted June 24, 2007 I keep seeing posts mentioning bidding on Hotwire, but I was told by them directly that they not longer accept bids on their site, posted prices only. Has anyone found otherwise? Only Priceline does the bidding thing now, right? Olwyn

I got the Radisson at the Seatac airport for a total of 75.00:) They do have posted prices on all their choices~you don't find out which hotel it is until after you pay. beach girl66 Posted July 21, 2007 #167 Share Posted July 21, 2007 YIPEE! Fri., Oct 13:eek: Bid on Priceline 60.00, 65.00,70.00-not accepted 75.00 ACCEPTED!! Feb. 22-25,07(3 nights) Caribe Hilton With tax 299.00(that also includes 15.00 ins.) Very happy with that! I think they would have accepted 70.00 but I changed both destination and price and should have just added one more destination and left price alone. But, now I can cancel the 732.00 hotel and shop with the 400.00 I saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wondering--I just now call or email the hotel to request non-smoking. (I know there is a chance I won't get it) sorry, first time to use priceline. Thanks everyone!!!:) I called the Marriott Stellaris Resort and they told me all inside buildings in Peurto Rico are none smoking it is a goverment law so don't worry

CarolRick Posted July 24, 2007 #170 Share Posted July 24, 2007 Priceline bid: 3 star, San Juan, 2 rooms, one night, Jan 24, 2008. Winning bid was $100 per room for Sheraton, Old San Juan. This price is close to the price for the Comfort Inn on the Condado. The Comfort Inn is closer to the Pan Am pier where Celbrity ships leave from. The Sheraton is in Old San Juan which will be nice for dinner and walking.

Thanks CC :D Don & Donna, That's the same bid I did yesterday. One disadvantage is the the Sheraton Old San Juan is on the other side of the water from the PanAm pier, which is where the Celebrity ships embark. All the other cruise lines embark from the Old San Juan pier, which is next to the Sheraton. But I love Old San Juan and that will be nice for dinner.
