mittel Posted September 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Could someone please tell me approx how much do I have to pay for taxi from MIA Airport to Miami port? Should I take the meter or is it fixed price? And is it easy to take a taxi to and from the airport? Thanks.
jerick Posted September 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2006 It is VERY easy to take taxis between MIA and the Port of Miami. If I remember correctly, the fare is about $24 plus tip.

Yes, I saw this figure quoted when I searched the board for this same information. Some cruisers had also posted links to shuttle services, but those were ~ $18 per person, I think. Capt_BJ Posted September 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2006 I'm always amazed that we seem to have a fear and distrust of taxis... MIA to the port - fixed price $24 PER CAB - plus tip. This is posted in the cabs (24 last time I was there anyway) Shuttles $18 or more per person .... go figure  I learned the hard way that to most places in Miami, when two are traveling, taxi is cheaper than the shuttles almost every time....there are fixed prices to the major destinations like South Beach and Coconut Grove
ncdazz Posted September 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2006 we had 6 ppl in our group. with luggage, the airport guys said we were too big for a car so we had to take a van. we paid around $60-70 one way. very expensive but about the same as the shuttle. so to help w/ your question, i guess you should consider the size of your group. DonnaMarieNJ Posted June 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2008 How much is the taxi/shuttle now? Is it per person or per ride? Anyone know? TIA!
cb at sea Posted June 19, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Taxi rates are per ride--NOT per person! There will be a LINE of taxis both at the airport AND the port!
timothy998 Posted July 3, 2008 #10 Share Posted July 3, 2008 We're a family of five cruising on Westerdam in March 2009 (first cruise for all of us). We'd already booked our air using award miles from ORD-FLL on UA to learn this week that they're discontinuing service ORD-FLL. Soooo, I told UA that since I'm a million-kajillion miler that they needed to help us out. Fortunately they rebooked us to/from MIA, even though we're on award tickets (the agent had to get a supervisor to override the system to get us award seats on the last day of Spring Break). For MIA to FLL, taxi rates are about $77, flat rate, and car rental vans are about $65, but what do Carey & Limoway charge, roughly, for MIA to FLL area hotels and/or the cruiseport, for a group our size? BeachKitten Posted July 10, 2008 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2008 I've never taken a taxi before. Will it cost much more to stop at a store on the way from the airport to port where we can pick up so soda?
txdillon Posted December 31, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 31, 2008 So the price for a taxi for 2 pax from FLL to the Port of Miami is???? thanks, We got our cruise changed from FLL to Miami and our air is still into FLL

moonlitmagik Posted January 1, 2009 #15 Share Posted January 1, 2009 cheaper to rent a car, honestly.
travelguy58 Posted January 1, 2009 #16 Share Posted January 1, 2009 Renting a car is an option, but door to door service on a shuttle is much more relaxing and stress free. Hop on... hop off. Its worth the extra couple of dollars. May even end up a little cheaper.
bahama bound Posted January 7, 2009 #17 Share Posted January 7, 2009 When we get a taxi at the miami airport do they know where the port is or do we need to know the directions????
travelguy58 Posted January 7, 2009 #18 Share Posted January 7, 2009 The Port of Miami is right next door to the airport... It takes about 10 or 15 minutes at the most.
kenteecruisin Posted February 1, 2011 #19 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Does anyone have any current information regarding the rates? NCL charges $20 pp each way? Thank you!
Rare silentbob007 Posted February 2, 2011 #20 Share Posted February 2, 2011 Taxis from MIA to the Port of Miami are still $24 + tip flat rate. Taxi rates to/from FLL and Miami are metered.
Rare silentbob007 Posted February 2, 2011 #21 Share Posted February 2, 2011 Oh ... I also recommend SAS Transportation if you are making a trip between FLL and the Port of Miami (they can't pick up at MIA however). I paid $15 to be picked up at my FLL hotel by a shared-ride shuttle and taken to the Port of Miami. ridesas.com
foxeysandy Posted March 2, 2011 #22 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Do they have taxis which will hold three to five people, including luggage? Same fare?
zoncom Posted March 2, 2011 #23 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Yes, van taxis. Flat rate on regular taxis is $24 up to 4 people. Dont know if vans charge more. Probably not.
Marie51 Posted March 2, 2011 #24 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Does anyone have any current information regarding the rates? NCL charges $20 pp each way? Thank you! Don't take the cruise line shuttle. It's a ripoff and you end up sitting on the bus until it fills.
