mailbox or ups?

I'm sure this doesn't belong here, and they will move it, but wasn't sure where to post it. Anyone that's received a passport, do ya get it in the mailbox, or ups? We didn't have it expedited or pay extra for ups, so just curious. Thanks:)

I got my a couple of weeks ago in the regular mail, it was sent priority mail.

We received our Passports USPS priority mail, we got our Visa's back Fex ex.

If you don't expedite the passport (eg., pay additional fees) your passport will come back regualar postal mail.

 

When we do send our passport in for processing, I do send it Fed Express so that I can easily track when it has been received.

UPS priority mail. We got ours 3 1/2 weeks after applying and did not pay for expedited service.

Ours came UPS. We did not pay anything extra either.

We received ours via the U.S. Postal Service, priority mail, and were not charged anything extra for this service.

We also completed the renewal applications ourselves and mailed them, together with our soon-to-expire passports, via certified mail, return receipt requested. The applications were very easy to complete and therefore not necessary to pay extra $$ to the USPS or county office for assistance. Received our new passports, together with our prior ones, in less than four weeks.

Not sure why. I have applied for passports for each of my family members over the years, renewed each passport, requested extra pages several times and they have always come back regular postal mail.

 

Where we all seem to have consensus here is that the passports are sent back United States Postal Mail rather than with other carriers and most people have gotten theirs back regular mail and a few priority mail.

Mine came in the mailbox - it took about 5 weeks.

Yessss!!!! Went to the mailbox this morning, and there it was:D My passport came in, priority mail, it only took them 26 days to process it and send it back!:D 3 1/2 weeks, not the standare 6.......and they told me it could take up to 8 weeks. I did the dance from the mailbox, all the way inside:p my cat thought I had lost it, lol. I can't believe I got it so quickly!

"Six to eight weeks" seems to be the standard answer when it comes to how long it will take to process your application for a new passport or a renewal.

 

Happily, it never seems to take that long. I've read everything from 17 days to 45 days, and if the application is 'clean', I've never heard of it actually taking 8 weeks.

 

Of course, once TPTB actually DECIDE on a deadline, once and for all, after which the currently-accepted forms of ID will no longer work, and that deadline approaches, who knows how long it will take.

Applied Sept. 15 and received ours today via USPS Priority Mail.

Unless you pay for expedited service and include a prepaid Express Mail, FedEX or UPS overnight envelope, passports are now sent Priority Mail. The service can be tracked without paying extra fees and the governments certainly doesn't want passports lost in regular mail.

I got mine back in 2 weeks via Priority mail. (Keep in mind that I live about 10 miles from Washington, DC where they are processed.) I got it last year in August.

You're lucky they went to a processing center close to you. We live in Georgia, and ours came out of New Orleans, Louisiana. They have processing centers in Texas, Illinois, Connecticut,Colorado, Florida, California, New Hampshire, Washington, Charleston, SC (definitely closer to us than New Orleans), Pennsylvania, Massachussets, Honalulu, and New York. So congrats on being so lucky!:) You would think though, that they would use the processing center closest to where the individual applicants live, wouldn't ya?:confused:
