nana0605 Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I am flying from Atlanta to Orlando the morning of my cruise. Should I book transportation with my cruise line? How early should my flight be?
Host Kewlguy Posted September 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2006 It would be a lot cheaper to just rent a car at the airport and drive to Port Canaveral yourself. It's about a 50 minute drive. You'll save a lot of money verses any other option. You drop the car off at the car rental and they will provide a short drive to the port. Leeser416 Posted September 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2006 We booked transportation with RCI from Orlando. We were the first people there and had to wait approx. one hour until they had a bus full of people to go to the pier. It is a little bit of a drive to the pier from the airport. Renting a car doesn't sound like a bad bet either as the above poster said.
BabySam99 Posted September 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I've had a limo pick us up along with a car service and I have rented a car...rent the car it's cheaper and you control when and where you go. I used Dollar it is close to the cruise port and they offer free shuttle to your ship. It is an easy drive and it's well worth it.:)
jennat Posted September 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2006 We just got back and rented a car with Budget. It could not have been easier. we stayed at the Radisson which has free trans to port and could walk to it after returning the car. It was around $35 to cape canaveral and $47 back. The car rental place is in the terminal, you walk across a walkway and they give you the keys. My husband hates dealing with rental cars and he said, "why don't we rent again in November when we go back (he was going to take cabs to his seminars) I was shocked. You would have to know him, but it was sooooo easy!

biomedbob Posted September 30, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Budget is simple, cheap and fast. Why anyone would do the MCO-Port-MCO any other way is a mystery. The only problem we had a couple of weeks ago was we were off the ship and standing in the parking lot at 7:20 and it was eight O'Clock before we got picked up. I think that was the exception, getting off so early! :D
jennat Posted September 30, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2006 I do think that is the worst part of it. They pick you up from the pier in vans. We couldn't fit in the van, by the time the next one came, there were a bunch of people there. They all rushed the van (no first come first serve there). It worked out fine. I got us on. I knew it was my turn so I didn't feel to bed hustling over there. They did have more than one van running.

gadiamondgal Posted October 1, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2006 We will be driving in from Ocala and want to drop our car off at the airport so we can meet up with others sailing with us. Which car rental place is right at the airport? Within walking distance to baggage claim (where we will meet our friends)? Dollar or Budget? I'm so confused! Thanks for any help! biomedbob Posted October 1, 2006 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Easy than you might think! You only need to know what airline your friends are going to arrive on. This determines for you return the rental to the same terminal (A or B). You gather your luggage from your rental, walk across the street, and you are on the same level as your friend's luggage carousel. If you send me a ticket, I'd be glad to walk you through the process! This applies to Budget. Not familiar with Dollar.
