Hi All,

I have a few questions about Alaska cruises..

For the 1st week of Sept when does the sun rise and set?

If the ship arrives at 12:30 a.m in Whittier, what time do you debark? How far is the airport away? What are recommended flight times out of Ancourage.

Thanks,

It is not a 3 hour bus ride from Whittier to Anchorage.

Disembark starts around 6:30am for the cruise tour passengers, that are traveling on the train. If you buy the train transfer on the ship, you'll get off then, too. Everyone is usually off the ship by 10am.

If you make your own transfer arrangements, you'll need to know what tunnel they plan on coming into Whittier on, so you can be off the ship by then.

The airport is about 60 miles away. The tunnel opens on the Whittier side at the top of the hour.

We just had a one hour delay due to a freight train, so leave yourself some wiggle room!

I worked on the Coral for two months on the Alaska run. You do arrive in Whittier rather late at night. Passengers leave the ship first thing in the morning. Whittier tiny. There is only one road in and out which closes in eaither direction as traffic can only go one direction at a time.

If you want to know about any more info about Skagway, Juneau or Ketchikan, let me know as we stopped at these ports every week.

Do allow some time in Vancouver if you can. GREAT shopping!!!! It really is one of the most beautiful places I have visited and I have been to many places in my lifetime!

Ketchikan has a fantastic candy shop called Ketchicandies! Their fudge and almond rocca are fantastic! Juneau has The Alaskan Fudge Company with heavenly chocolate fudge that has a slab of peanut butter in the middle. Juneau has a great fish place to eat right along side the dock called the Twisted Fish. Ketichikan has a great place called Annabelles near the dock as well.
