What kind of extras are included when you go with a group? We went through a TA because we have a group of 20 or so, and she's a friend and is also going with us. We have another friend who is wanting to go now, and Carnival's site is $50 cheaper than what we paid through the TA. Our group is supposed to be able to sit together at dinner, but other than that, would he be missing out on anything if he didn't sign up with our group? I mean, obviously, we didn't get an amazing deal or anything, and I don't even think we can get a discount or shipboard credit now since we're in a group. Also, do you think he could tip the maitre de and sit with our group?

I had a group of friends (18 of us) that sailed with me this summer. As the group leader, I price watched for the group and anytime I saw a price drop on Carnival's site, I called our TA to see what Carnival would do. I was lucky. They matched resident specials and one day sail prices up to 2 weeks before sailing.

By the time we sailed, I managed to get everyone upgraded to 6A cabins in addition to an $125.00 per person onboard credit and an open bar cocktail party. The cocktail party was suppose to be a specific type of drinks, but when I arrived to check in with the "Group" specialist, she said it was an open bar and to order anything we wanted. ;)

If there is space at your table, your friend should have no problem being seated with your group. No tip necessary.

Different groups get different perks. Some offer $XX cabin credit, maybe a free photo, bottle of wine of champange per cabin, etc. Some get a free group cocktail party....some don't.

We did a group cruise, and were having lots of problems with our TA. Upon checking with Carnival, we were given a list of items group cruise members could choose from....or the person in charge of the cruise can use the points for their personal cruise fare or upgrade.

The group is assigned so many points, and you could use the points for OBC, champagne & chocolates sent to each room, cocktail party, etc. We each received a $75 OBC per cabin and cocktail party.

I was told by our Carnival PVP that group cruises can't get OBC or discounts if the price of the cruise dropped.

Your friend dining with the group can be arranged before you leave. Have the friend that did not book with the group give your TA their booking number. When your TA makes dining assignments, he/she can add your other friend to the dining. It is done all the time.
