We have been looking at staying in the Wyndham Bourbon Orleans Hotel pre cruise. Has anyone stayed there and what are your recommendations.

Not worried about taxi to the cruise dock. We are flying in, so will need a taxi anyway.

I see this hotel is close to preservation hall and other sites. How safe is area for walking around at night?

Any information you can give would be appreciated.

Thank you

The French Quarter is still very safe. Just as with any tourist area you still need to be on your toes. Do not drift out of the Quarter unless you are with a tour group.

This hotel is very nice and is located in the center of the Quarter.

Have fun.:)

Hi,

We stayed at the Bourbon Orleans in May 2005 and won't stay there again. The location was good but the rooms and service left alot to be desired. We were there on our own for 5 nights and when we come again next April for our cruise, we will fly in the day before and stay at the Doubletree on Canal Street.

If you have a Hilton Honors card, you can get a great deal by calling the hotel directly.

Suggest that you check the website for the hotel.

Have a good time.

We've stayed at the Bourbon Orleans twice. You can't beat the location across from Jackson Square, but very centrally located to the best of the Quarter. We've stayed in a junior suite and a multi level suite with balcony for 3 night stays(pre katrina) and both times were great. We would stay again.

We were sailing on the NCL Sun and stayed at the Bourbon Orleans pre and post cruise, over NYE. It is a lovely hotel RIGHT on Bourbon Street between St Anne and Orleans St.

We had a two story balcony suite and it was really spacious. To be treated like a VIP, be sure to log into Wyndam's main website and sign up to be a "Wyndam ByRequest" member. You'll find fruit and wine in your room, and can ask for special things like extra hangers, extra towels and early checkin and late checkouts.

If you do opt for a balcony or view room be prepared for music all night. Bourbon street bars and right below, across and on all sides. The music goes til 4am and these old hotels are not sound proof! It was all good to me, because when I was tired of walking the streets, watching from above was grand fun! It's not quiet and restful, but the location can't be beat. Literally 2 blocks from Jackson Square, RIGHT in the French Quarter.

The buffet breakfast and omelet bar (extra charge) is verrrrry good.
