james king Posted October 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Greetings fellow Seabourites!! Well we have booked a grand voyage on Seabourn Legend, departing next December to take us from Fort Lauderdale on a 28 night holiday over the festive season (December 19-16th Jan) What airport should we book our flights from to leave Costa Rica, and does anyone have any BRILLIANT ideas for transfers to get from Caldera to San Jose (if thats the right airport!) Any ideas at this point would be welcomed.... Regards James
Seabourn-nail Posted October 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Congratulations on your wonderful cruise! We will board the day you leave the ship. And we are using Seabourn pre cruise hotel and transport option this time. But when we return from Costa Rica on the 5th of February, we may use the service of A Jaguar Limousine Company, that we have used before. Or Seabourn´s transfer option. Go to www.1costaricalink.com and transportation. And I´m sure you will find it! Good luck and have a terrific cruise!

Tex805 Posted November 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2006 We are leaving the Legend in Caldera in December. Seabourn tells us that there is a Seabourn bus from Caldera to San Jose that goes by the airport and then into downtown. There are two airports in San Jose - it goes past the International one. While it's advertised as 8:00 am arrival in Caldera, apparently the bus takes a while to load, and there's a trip of about three hours to San Jose. There are several US airlines that fly in and out of San Jose.

I will keep hold of the information for our forthcoming trip. James :D
hoya68 Posted November 7, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2006 We are taking the Panama Cruise this month and staying in Costa Rico for several days after the cruise. We booked one way on Continental from San Jose to Baltimore via Houston about 10 months in advance. At that time they had excellent fares in business class. In fact I just checked and the fare is almost exactly the same as the current least expensive economy class for the same date. In our case it certainly paid to book well in advance. oregon50 Posted November 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2006 I've done Caldera to airport several times, also the opposite direction. It's very safe and cheaper to just negotiate a ride at the pier with a taxi driver. It was 60 or 70 dollars last year.....if memory is working. No need to think about this until you are docked at Caldera.
