checklady724 Posted November 30, 2006 #26 Share Posted November 30, 2006 to take cash off your sign and sail card for personal spending in the ports you will need to go to the Casino and take cash that way- it will also cost you 3% to do it that way. personal spending onboard is only through the sign and sail card--except at the casino. I have also been told you can get cash from the pursers desk on board. I got good knews today about my problem, they are going to approve my request and my on board credit will be there waiting for me:D . The guy had to run it past his supervisor, duh.
serene56 Posted November 30, 2006 #27 Share Posted November 30, 2006 I have also been told you can get cash from the pursers desk on board. . who told you that information? If that was the case then people would be lined up here more then at the cashier cage paying 3%. I really dont think you can get cash from your sign and sail card at the pursers desk. I know you can cash a check once during the week and only if it is backed by an American Express card.. that is the only way to cash a check. DAIS28ABB Posted December 1, 2006 #28 Share Posted December 1, 2006 I'm pretty sure we went to the purser for additional cash our last time on Carnival. We certainly were not going to pay 3% extra! I believe Carnival is the only cruise line that charges to obtain cash from the casino. We never bring much cash with us and always obtain extra as we need it from the casino or the purser. I will call them and check.
serene56 Posted December 1, 2006 #29 Share Posted December 1, 2006 you can call carnival many times with the same question and get different answers so thay wont really help. Princess charges the 3% casino fee too. ROyal does not. I dont know about other lines. I'd be curious to hear from other posters if indeed you can get cash from the pursers desk
tazmanrmv Posted December 1, 2006 #30 Share Posted December 1, 2006 I guess this question goes out to anyone who has either used Funship Dollars, or pre-paid with onboard credit. What verification, or "receipt", do you get with both scenerios? (Funship vs. onboard)? Call me synical, but i have this fear that i send them 1000.00 for pre-payment and when i get there, they lose the information and im on the hook for another 1000.00. Thanks Kevin

I get them mailed to me within 10 days so I have them in hand. when you order cabin credit online you get a confirmation.. over the phone you get a confirmation code-- you take those codes with you jsut in case--
gumballz Posted December 1, 2006 #32 Share Posted December 1, 2006 Kevin, I've printed out all of my receipts with my order numbers on them to take in as proof that I have that amount on my account....just in case. I can also see the credit on my reservation on Carnival. If you don't order them to be shipped to your house, as Serene56 does, then just print everything and take it with you. You won't lose your money.:)
Avril Posted December 1, 2006 #33 Share Posted December 1, 2006 I was just wondering, how do you put Fun Ship dollars towards a future cruise? I'm asking for them for xmas and my birthday too put towards my CC group cruise in Febuary 2008. I'm booking through a TA so I'm not sure how to use them. serene56 Posted December 1, 2006 #34 Share Posted December 1, 2006 Funship dollars have two boxes--one is for cabin credit-- the other is for "towards booking a cruise. Just mark the appropriate box.
cruise.freak Posted December 1, 2006 #35 Share Posted December 1, 2006 I have purchased the fun ship dollars and had them mailed to me. I took them with me and had them applied at the pursers desk, no problem.
55J5-5 Posted December 1, 2006 #36 Share Posted December 1, 2006 This is a great idea to get some fun ship dollars and put them in my kids stockings for our cruise on the 31st. This way they can get even more excited about going. Ohhh I'll get some for hubby too. Thanks for the tip!!!
