NancyJewel92 Posted December 7, 2006 #428 Share Posted December 7, 2006 The NCL - Monte connection has brought back the fun that use to occur on computer systems of old. The inside jokes, hijinks, etc. One that still stands out in my mind is when working for a inancial services company in the '80's, we had mainframe systems around the country which were named after Hollywood stars. My department connected to "Fred" (Astaire) and "Ginger" (Rogers). One morning, the receptionist thought she had the unfortunate task of delivering some sad personal news to me, as was evident by the sad/worried/sympathetic look on her face, as she handed a message to me that read "Ginger died". She took her task so seriously and was so geniune in her emotion, that I didn't have the heart to tell her at that moment that "Ginger" was a computer. I did later though, and we had a good laugh.:D So, thanks NCL for the Monte-CC banter; it brings me back to when we tried to make mainframes seem personal. clerky96 Posted December 7, 2006 #429 Share Posted December 7, 2006 Monte, maybe you could "sneak up" on the button. Pretend you're not going to push it, then "trick it and click it"! :D This is the most fun thread I have ever seen! WTG, Monte! WTG, NCL! Aye to the free cruise, too!:D Uh Oprah, where are you?????? PassionFruit Posted December 7, 2006 #430 Share Posted December 7, 2006 I think that on the 40th day, they should pull an Oprah...and award a free cruise to all CC members who have posted on this thread. You've won a cruise; and you've won a cruise; and you've won a cruise.... ;) Cooler would be if we could then all coordinate timing and have a huge CC cruise onboard the new ship. What better way for NCL to get a critical mass of Reviews for the new ship! (hint, hint!) I've been entering for my partner & I each day....but nothing even close.....so far. Stephen (& Daniel) I've been entering daily and following along here, but figured I better post in case this comes true! :D :D :D This has been a fun one! Come on, Monte! Sea-Gals Posted December 7, 2006 #431 Share Posted December 7, 2006 I just did my first entry today, going to put in one for my DM next, as we always cruise together. I guess I should get my BF to enter, too; he hasn't tried cruising yet -- I've been trying to get him interested in cruising from Baltimore, since there would be no flight involved for us, and I think he might go for that, but we will cruise from any port. I hope they will let both my entry and my DM's in as we share the same first and last name, address, and CruiseCritic user name. I put our middle name in with our first name so they can distinguish between us and used my work number and will use our home number for her. I've always wanted to try cruising on NCL -- It always seems 'deluxe' in my mind, and now it seems so friendly with their daily Monte remarks -- maybe this will be the beginning of a beautiful relationship (fingers crossed). Monte - We too, have discovered and entered this contest because of you and because of NCL's personable interaction and connection with CruiseCritic via this board. I was thinking, when a certain number of people book a cruise together, they will often give away a free cruise, and it seems many of the winners have entered because of you, therefore, all the CruiseCritic winners should band together and tell NCL they want you as their freebie! Count me in on that! Good luck, everyone -- won't we have the best CruiseCritic get together on that cruise! Sea-Gals ('Sool' and Mums) p.s. Monte - You don't have any contact info in your CC Profile; I think you should add something in case NCL wants to make you their SpokesModel! We added ours via a 'Download vCard' for people to lookup our eMail without having it 'harvestable' on the internet, and that has worked out well for us. I want my name there too... whine for the day. O.K. I'm over it. Glad it was you Monte. How many entries per day do you think they get?

Thanks, but until they move me up to appear just under the line "yesterdays winner" it doesn't mean much ;) I'm recruiting shoreguy on his "pearl" thread! TIMES RUNNING OUT! I've been wondering how many entries they're getting a day also. It would be interesting to know. -Monte

Rare Host CMLA Posted December 7, 2006 #438 Share Posted December 7, 2006 Careful now, you know what happened the last time someone name dropped on these boards!!! ;) :D :D She shouldn't be careful at all. It's been proven that if you name drop, you get TONS of free stuff from NCL and special perks. COLIN COLIN COLIN There...maybe now I can get all those great benefits. Good luck Monte. If anyone deserves it...it's you. So, who should I go crying to? SG...... perhaps....One and the same according to some?????? LOL Forgive me. You're right. To adequately name drop you need to name drop the people that will get you the farthest. So if I were to say that one day I was reading SHOREGUY's blog and I wondered if COLIN had read it too and alerted KLAUS so KLAUS can talk to RUTH about special perks on board then RUTH could talk to ANDY for approval. Did I cover everyone? LOL Thanks for taking my sarcasm in the way it was intended. ;) Just for fun. My disclaimer is I've never received an upgrade, an upsell offer, a bottle of wine, a gift basket or a free dinner on NCL. I have gotten those things from RCCL. Shoot...I must for for them and somehow got lost over here. :p

Although I am usually a group leader when I travel NCL- I sometimes wonder when i get my perks are they from being a group leader, a platinum latitudes member, or a cc member. bskmom Posted December 7, 2006 #443 Share Posted December 7, 2006 Count me in. I want to cast a vote for everyone to win a cruise together. It is obvious that we are outgoing people (at least on our computer that its). We would have a great time together. I just don't know how we could all talk at the same time. Kidding aside I think that people who have gathered here definitely are a great group. I know I have gotten great advice on these boards. I have always joined the roll calls because we can all get excited together. People joined together for the good of everyone's vacation. By the way I have April 7th booked on the Spirit out of NYC if anyone wants to join me there. Our family has 3 cabins booked. It works perfectly with school vacation. I notice some people are from this area. So come and join me there if you can. It is a nice itinerary too. Well Monte my advice to you is to push the submit button ever so gently and repeat "I am a winner, I am a winner" Dreams do come true ( I hope for you) Go Monte Go Monte!!!!! KeystoneCruiser Posted December 7, 2006 #444 Share Posted December 7, 2006 The problem is that if all of the Cruise Critic posters on this thread won a group cruise, then who would stay behind to keep the board going?? So lets just hope SHOREGUY gets back here to cover for us or maybe we could have COLIN come on the board in our absence. (hey, I like Cecilia's idea and I am not above copying it..... I can't imagine that NCL will just end the contest cold on the last day. I'm also predicting that they have something big for the last day, their actual birthday. VoyageVirgin Posted December 7, 2006 #445 Share Posted December 7, 2006 Ok, Monte, I think you may have to find the "Magic Button" maybe if you take all your post cruise souviners - pins, hats, etc gather them around you and use your Lattitudes pin to push that button, after doing the doc dance... you never know. LOL It's been great on this thread since NCL started name dropping  too. Hope you win... something.

The other dropped names I can`t remember. Shoot...I just remembered this. I had dinner with Andy in the Teppanyaki on the Star's maiden voyage back in 2001. Not planned. They just happened to have a reservation for the same night as I did. One of their gaming consultants was also there and I spent some time with him throughout the cruise. But I never won bingo or in the casino. So I've had dinner with Andy; gotten a Latitudes magazine with Colin's signature and photo somewhere in it; booked a few cruises onboard with the P&C consultant, Mark; but never cruised with Shoreguy however I think he holds a special place in his heart for me. :D
