Southwest Posted July 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Has anyone had some laundry done on the Oosterdam? I'm curious about how much it costs. I heard that you can get a bagful done for $12 -- as much as you can stuff in the bag. Anyone that has had laundry done, please reply with cost/volume info. THANKS! elmorejj Posted July 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2004 We use the $12 a bag anytime we are not in a suite. I`ve never had a problem with it. If you roll your clothes tightly, you can get a bunch in the bag. For instance, I got in 2 pair of dockers, 4 shorts, 4 T shirts, 2 dress shirts, 6 pair of underwear, and 3 pair of socks. Mark on your bag that you want the shirts on hangers and they come back looking really good, even the T shirts. Everything is ironed even the socks and underwear and will be in a nice wicker basket wrapped in tissue paper with a gold HAL seal on it. Turn the laundry in to your steward in the morning and its usually back by the next day after about 8pm. I think its a great bargain.....jean
Southwest Posted July 18, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 18, 2004 Thank you for your response. You gave me just what I needed to know. I appreciate the detailed info. But it does make me ask a follow on question... if you stay in a suite you don't use the bag, so does that mean you bring more clothes or that they do your laundry for free when you stay in a suite? peaches from georgia Posted July 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2004 One of the perks of booking a suite (PS and S categories only) is that you get free laundry and dry cleaning. You still use the laundry bag; you just don't have to pay. ;)
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2004 :) And I sure hope that HAL doesn't drop the free laundry and dry cleaning perk for we suite passengers. :)
elmorejj Posted July 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2004 I noticed on the Zaandam that they now used a nice looking navy blue cloth laundry bag for other than the "$12 fill it to the brim bag", are all ships using these now?....jean
peaches from georgia Posted July 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2004 We had the navy cloth bag on the Maasdam in June. Liked it so much better than the paper bag. The cloth has a drawstring so you can close it up securely, too.
elmorejj Posted July 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 18, 2004 I liked it too Peaches, so much better, and I usually managed to tear the paper ones anyway...jean
Typhoon1 Posted July 19, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 19, 2004 On my last Oosterdam voyage there was a $45,00 unlimited laundry special available for the 7 days. Unlimited pressing was $35.00. Check at the front desk once you get onboard.
hawaiideb Posted July 22, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 22, 2004 Where did you go to sign up for the dry cleaning/pressing special? How did it work? Do you know if this is on every ship? We are sailing Maasdam Sat. July 31st. Sister presses tons of clothes!
peaches from georgia Posted July 22, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 22, 2004 Ask your room steward when you meet him the first day and he will have all the information. He is the one that takes your laundry to be cleaned.
