Day Pass to Renaissance Aruba Resort

Can't help you with whether or not "it's worth it" but can tell you it takes very little time to get from the pier to the main entrance of the Ren. to purchase your day pass (if it's available... I believe they decide what the hotel's capacity is for that day as to whether they sell "day passes" to Ren. Island). It's a very short walk from the pier entrance. Actually it's across the street and to the right (about a short city block). Don't know if it's worth even taking a cab there. Once you get pass at hotel lobby you'll take a water taxi from lobby to marina and then it proceeds to Ren. Island.

Have fun. It's a nice place to spend the day.

It was recently verified by someone here that the resort's occupancy rate must be below 90% for them to be willing to sell day passes. My best advice if you decide you want to do this is to have a back up plan just in case passes are not available the day that you are in port.

Has anyone been turned away from the Renaissance Beach Resort island lately because they reached their quota for the day? We are going the last week in Jan. and can see this may be their busy time. Wondering if I should make alternate plans.

We tried on Jan. 9th but they were full. I suspected this before I went as I had gone to their website to see what happened when I put in reservation info and got the message that the hotel was full for that date. We walked over anyway just to make sure that was correct and it was.

We did have a back up plan which was to go to Palm Beach by taxi. Word of warning, the lounge chair vendors (for lack of better description) but in front of the hotel that is being built so expect lots of constuction noises. I think it would have been better to go down the beach and just sit on the sand for the peace and quiet!

Just got off AOS yesterday, and we went to Renaissance Island last Tuesday. It is a very short walk from the ship (no need for a taxi). We paid for 2 adult tickets, and our 2 kids were free. The passes included lunch and one cocktail for each adult (not for the kids), plus chairs, towels, and a water sport, we did the snorkle and I think a floating pad as well. It was well worth the money, and a beautiful place to spend the day. It closes at 6 or 7 pm. Lunch was great, situated right on the beach. I would recommend it, and would love to go there again!:)

My family did the Renaissance day pass in July of 2006. It was great.

We walked from the ship to the hotel. It was a short walk. Paid for the adults and kids were free. Got on the boat and were there very fast.

We are going again to Aruba in August 2007 and are planning to do this again.

It was worth the price and was a lot of fun.

Hi Ocean State,

What is the price for the daily pass at the Renaissance? Sounds like a great way to spend the day

Does anyone know if we can use the hotel's pool instead of going to the private island?? Or - can we do a combination of both???

Someone? Anyone??

This interests me also. Any recent visitors from a cruise ship - can you stay at the hotel(s) and use the pools instead of going to the private island?

Thanks!

Honestly, I am going to venture to say not too good. I've been to Aruba 15 times, but was there Christmas week for only the first time this year. Not in my whole life have I seen so many people on the island and it seemed like they were all on the beach. Seriously though, it is the island's busiest week of the year, next comes President's week and Carnival.

We were just in Aruba in mid-March on the Celebrity Galaxy and spent a very enjoyable day at Renaissance's private island. It is open from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. As long as the occupancy isn't over 90% that day, you can purchase a day pass from the front desk for $50. This includes any lunch from the menu, one cocktail, and non-motorized watersports. I saw floats and kayaks available; not sure what else they may have as I didn't use anything.

A speedboat pulls right into the Renaissance property and you have to put a room key into a reader in order to get onto the speed boat. It's about a ten minute ride over to the private island which is situated right across from Aruba's airport. You can watch the big jumbo jets landing every few minutes. They have some binoculars on a stand set up here for viewing too. I got some great photos!

There are flamingos walking along the beach. There are two beach areas. I was told the one to the right is more adult oriented. We did see a few topless women here. The one to the left is for kids, but we stayed here and there were plenty of adults here too. The restaurant is also on this side. This side also contains cages with parrots and some other birds. These parrots do have a tendency to get a little noisy!

There are tons of beach chairs, palapas, and several hammocks. I spent some very enjoyable time lounging in a hammock that juts right out into the ocean. The wind was rocking my hammock and I could watch the waves crashing into the rocks. Very peaceful.

The beach area is protected by the rocks so the swimming is very calm. My boyfriend tried to snorkel, but it wasn't too clear and he didn't have much success with this. You don't have to bring towels because these are provided.

Huge iguanas are roaming the grounds and are fed on the stairways at noon each day. You will also see numerous species of exotic fish swimming in the canal which runs through the property. On the adult side of the beach, there is a nature trail. Be sure to wear your shoes, as this path gets rocky. This path will take you to the end of the island and you can get some great shots of your cruise ships in port. There were numerous blue iguanas scampering in front of us along this trail.

The shuttle runs every 15 minutes, so whenever you want to return, just be sitting at the location where you are dropped off. We had a great time here and wouldn't hesitate to return.

The Renaissance day pass is the only one I am totally sure of. At one time someone here mentioned last year that the Occidental offered an all inclusive day pass, but I believe it was very expensive, something like $75 pp. I recently read comments in another forum where Manchebo was selling passes to cruise passengers, much to the angst and annoyance of the hotel's paying guests. Perhaps send Manchebo an email or phone them to inquire about a day pass.

Telephone: (297) 582-3444

Fax: (297) 583-2446

E-mail: info@manchebo.com

If someone does email or phone post back here so everyone can get the straight story and price if it is offered.

I will inquire as to the offering of day passes at the Tamarijn/Divi in December. As far as I am aware though, they are not offered.

I do not know about day passes, specifically, at the Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa....but...I have recently (last week) been in contact with them about spa services. They have plenty available and are more than happy to work with cruisers for their schedules. Additionally, I have been informed that we are more than welcome to use the hotel's facilities/beach, etc., but that if we wish to use chairs or huts, they are $5 each.

I don't know if they offer any all-inclusive passes, but I think they'd have to be pretty cheap to be worth it. Why? Their Pega Pega Beach Bar & Grill (the poolside restaurant) has EXCELLENT prices and menu selection (think comparable to Chili's or Applebee's in the US), and with chairs/huts being only $5 each, it would be hard for me to spend $50 or more per person to make an inclusive day pass worth it. The only way it would be worth it is if you were a big drinker...frozen drink prices, like most places, are $5-$7 each (still quite reasonable, IMO).
