American West Sternwheeler to Alaska

Got a brochure on these cruises. It looks wonderful, but looks are deceiving. Has anyone been on these cruises from Seattle or Sitka? It's on a ship called the "Empress of the North."

Have friend who taken Empress of the North a couple of times, not to Alaska, but along the Columbia River, outof Portland OR., and he says it is excellent.

 

We are considering doing the Columbia in '05 or '06. They have some excellent packages including Amtrak up from the San Francisco Bay Area (round trip).

Thanks for your response. I've learned that for 05 they are changing the Alaska itinerary and leaving from Juneau. May not get to do it next year, but sounds wonderful.
