Tipping in Speciality Resturants

Hi,

Please offer advise regarding tipping in the Speciality Reaturants. On our last cruise we were not sure what was expected? Our table mates were also caught off guard. The Wine has it's own gratuity but along with the $30. per person charge there was a place for additional tip. What is expected?

I don't think tipping is really expected, but I've dined twice in these restaurants, once on Infinity, once on Millennium. In both instances we felt that the serivce deserved more than the cover charge. I believe on our first experience for our group of five I added $25 total. This year, I don't recall exactly, but our 2 tablemates agreed to add probably a similar amount for each couple.

We just thought it was well deserved, and it was very much appreciated by our servers.

Hi, I just returned from Millennium and ate in the Olympic with

friends one evening:)

I believe (but not 100% sure of this) the tip is included in

the 30.00...BUT...BUT...I tip extra anyway.

I didn't add it on to the signed copy but gave it to my

waiter directly in cash.

Our waiter was fabulous and I also saw him in the mornings

at the Aqua Spa cafe. Always with a smile and the extra

tip for that dinner was worth every penney (in my opinion).

Enjoy your cruise...and dinner in the Olympic:D what an

evening!

Captain's Club told me that the $30 per person charge IS the tip; therefore it is not necessary to tip, but you certainly can if you wish. On land, that would be the basic tip for $400.:)

Why do I always think differently on a cruise?:D

I never thought about that until you mentioned the amount.

The service is superb and I guess because I never eat

at 400.00 a meal restaurants here at home it didn't

really matter.;)

I'm not sure the entire $30 per person charge goes to the staff. I just looked at the receipt from a dinner in the Olympic and it says: "Service charges are currently included in your per person cover charge . . . ." To me, this statement implies that the cover charge includes more than gratuities. In any event, we tipped an extra $10 per couple for excellent service.

$30 would be a 7.5% tip on $400. If you usually tip 15%, it would be the tip on a $200 tab. If you usually tip 20%, it would be the tip on a $150 tab.
