elou Posted January 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Hi, going on Sun. Is there anything to do in Grenada beside going to the beach or seeing rain forests? Are Spice Island tours interesting. Thanks.
mr green Posted January 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2007 We enjoyed the 'Catamaran Tour', lots of entertainment, and rum on board, and a nice beach to relax on, or swim. Good for all ages.:) john
Andee Posted January 7, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2007 We've been to Grenada twice. Both times we negotiated with a cab driver to take us to several places. The first time, we went to the Dougaldston Spice Estate, Grand Etang Lake for hiking, and Annandale Falls. Very good day. Recently, we went to the Laura Spice Estate, a beautiful private garden (can't remember the name), the University, and a driving tour of a gorgeous residential area. Another very good day. Here is the tourism website, which has links to activies and tour companies. http://www.grenadagrenadines.com/index2.html
gtbogie Posted January 7, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2007 We were on the Crown 11/11 sailing and we did the River Tubing in Grenada and had a blast. I think they allow 40 on this excursion. We were traveling with another family and we had the only kids on this excursion ages 8, 9 and 11. There was a lady who I would say was probably in her 70's and she did not enjoy at all. The guides are very entertaining and the rafting itself is a blast. Each person gets a raft, helmet and life vest. You will need water shoes. The bus ride there is scarier than the rafting. If I remember correctly, it was 45 minute ride each way on winding roads to the highest point on the island. This was the only excursion we did on this cruise because we didn't have much time in Grenada. There is quite a bit of splashing involved by the guides, it would have worked great to have goggles. There was probably 10-12 guides and they would position themselves at different points on the river to make sure everyone was safe and wasn't in trouble. There was 2 points that everyone was stopped to catch up and the guides did a singing/diving routine for us. I think it was $59.95 a person and we had a great time. Queenmum Posted January 7, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2007 Was on the Sun 11/30 and did this trip. One of the best we have done. It was safe but thrilling enough to make it really exciting. The trip finished and we were ready to go again. Best money we spent. Go for it and have fun!
