ready2cruzagain Posted November 6, 2013 #4453 Share Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) anyone know if there is a mongolian BBQ ? I love it on other ships!! No Mongolian BBQ on the Conquest. They have Fish n Chips which I hope is better than the last time I had it on the Liberty. First time we sailed was great but last time awful. The oysters tasted like hard rocks. Edited November 6, 2013 by ready2cruzagain
NCTribeFan Posted November 6, 2013 #4454 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Apparently some of the other ships that have the taste bar offer an alternative breakfast there (Dream, Breeze, Majic & Sunshine). Does anyone know if they do that on the Conquest-class ships and, if yes, what hours it is open?
plattwear Posted November 7, 2013 #4455 Share Posted November 7, 2013 NCTribe .. I was on the Conquest in September. Unless they have added that option since then, I never saw food being served at the Taste Bar during breakfast. We went to the Coffee Cafe near the Taste bar every morning for my friends Cold Coffee fix.
Sarahsmomi Posted November 7, 2013 #4456 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We will be in room 6320. This above the casino, is there a lot of sound coming from below? I am wondering the same thing. Anyone have any experience with this?
eoconnor Posted November 7, 2013 #4457 Share Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) I am wondering the same thing. Anyone have any experience with this? We have been upgrade to the lido for the same price. No need to worry about noise Edited November 7, 2013 by eoconnor
plattwear Posted November 7, 2013 #4458 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We will be in room 6320. This above the casino, is there a lot of sound coming from below? We were in room 6245 and the music was loud coming from another deck until about 10:30pm-11:30pm every night. At first I thought it was Karaoke coming from our floor, then I found it was on the 5th deck. There is a band that plays nightly near the casino. If you are not in bed before 11:00pm it should not be a problem. My friend that went with me on the cruise liked to be in bed by 10:00pm and was a light sleeper so, it was a big problem for her. I normally get an omelet every morning, but have the option to try the breakfast burrito this time. Just didn't want to totally miss out on any other breakfast options! CRUZBUDS Posted November 7, 2013 #4461 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We enjoyed the fish & chips several times last month on the Conquest (never tried the oysters) - Also Guy's Burgers were terrific and the breakfast burrito at the Blue Iguana was awesome! The Taste Bar was only at night
NCTribeFan Posted November 7, 2013 #4462 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Ours is a port-intensive itinerary. I'm so used to Fantasy-class ships, I'm a little concerned that I won't have enough time on board to try all the various food venues! That would be a disaster! :p I absolutely loved the F&C on Glory (both times), so know I'll be back there for lunch when possible (like the minute I board!). Is Guy's open all day? I know the F&C is not open mid-afternoon (closes around 2, doesn't it?). I'm thinking I can have a Guy's Burger on the port days when I return from my excursions, if it's open then. I believe Guy's was open until 6:00 every day - the F & C closes with the buffet stuff -- things were open a little later on some port days We hate port intensive cruises -- :)
NCTribeFan Posted November 7, 2013 #4464 Share Posted November 7, 2013 That should work just great, then, since I have late dining. Yeah, I book for the ports and then find I don't have the opportunity to eat all day, every day because I'm off the ship so much. And I have to PAY to eat in the ports! :p

NCTribeFan Posted November 12, 2013 #4470 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Anyone have any idea who is in the piano bar these days? No name listed on Mr. Heald's last update and the big thread on this board hasn't been updated, either. I don't hang around the piano bar much, but I'm just curious. stitch81 Posted November 13, 2013 #4472 Share Posted November 13, 2013 I have a prepaid cell phone and know that I won't be able to use that to stay in touch with family at home, but wondered what the cost is for the internet usage? Is there free Wi-Fi? Or do I have to purchase an internet package for the week? Husband and I are cruising in January to celebrate our 15th anniversary, so really need to be able to stay connected to our kids back home and our family taking care of them while we are gone. Although we were on the Liberty it's still same class of ship. We were able to call home nightly directly from our stateroom phone for about the same price as roaming minutes. I think it was less than $2 a minute which is fine for a quick call to check on everyone.
ToAdam12 Posted November 13, 2013 #4474 Share Posted November 13, 2013 I can't wait to try all of the burgers at guys. Why don't many people talk about the lunch burritos from blue iguana.

CCL's price for using the in cabin phone is $1.99 per minute, which is cheaper than our AT&T plan for our cell. As far as the internet goes, there is no free wifi. The plans have an initial $3.95 charge to set it up, then you can buy packages (something like 100 minutes for $59, and plans go up from there - if you sign up on the first day you get some bonus minutes) or you can spend .75 per minute if you want to do it by the minute. We found that the quick call home was cheaper than buying the internet plan. (which I buy also, to keep in touch and check my e-mail.)
