kathyjack Posted July 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I've heard several times about rolling your t-shirts/cotton shirts instead of folding them. Suppose to eliminate wrinkles. Has anyone ever done this? If so - does it work? And, how exactly, do you "roll" your clothes? Fold them part way-then roll them?
pungo3 Posted July 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I always roll my clothes. Yes, it helps keep wrinkles down AND it saves a lot of space in my luggage. For pants, I fold in half, lengthwise, and start rolling at the waist band. On shirts, I fold in half, lengthwise, and roll from the neckline. I've done this for years and years and didn't realize it wasn't common practice. Good luck.:)

DreadPirateRobert Posted July 27, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I always roll and haven't had any problems. Just "smooth" as you go and it'll be ok.

cathyp1216 Posted July 27, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I also roll ....it cuts down on the wrinkles and I can pack so ....much more with less luggage. Went from six bags (before rolling) down to 3 bags (after rolling). It was great!

KellyJean Posted July 27, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I always roll as much as possible unless I'm flying - then I use zip lock bags. T-shirts - I fold in half lengthwise matching up the sleeves, fold the sleeves in towards the crease down the middle of the shirt so that I have one long rectangle and then I just roll them up. Shorts - fold in half lenthwise and then I usually roll them up from the waistband. Socks - I lay them out flat and roll away! I don't recall ever rolling slacks - I usually have those folded over in half once on top of everything else or hanging in a garment bag.
Cruiser@Heart Posted July 27, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I am a former "roller". Now, I swear by the Packing Light Method. I stumbled on this method while packing for a 25 day trip traveling through Europe. Since then, I have used it to consistently when packing for cruises. My clothes always come out wrinkle free and I am able to pack more in smaller luggage. http://www.packinglight.com/plight/text_1.asp?tx_id=78& It is amazing how much more room you have in your luggage following this method. cantw82cruise Posted July 27, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Has anyone used those space bags (the ones you roll not the vacuum ones)to pack with? Did you like them? Were there many wrinkles?
GoinCruisin Posted July 27, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 27, 2004 We used the vacuum seal bags last year... LOVE THEM! I was able to pack twice as much in half the space... there were very light wrinkles (although I rolled some of the clothes before putting them in the bag), but I also took Wrinkle Releaser... It was all good :D

wenhigh Posted July 27, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 27, 2004 My wife has taught me to roll. Save's space and prevents excess wrinkles. Rolled on both cruises. Can pack real tight that way!
