The San Milano was VERY noisy when we stayed there pre-cruise in January. We booked a room

for one night before embarking, but it was the weekend of the San Sabastian festival! It

wasn't the noise so much as the constant vibration from the all-night drumming going on

in a small park nearby. Wife and I finally fell asleep at about 4:00AM (in retrospect, we

should've joined the party outside?)

After the cruise ended, we stayed another night before flying back. SAME THING! Except the

drumming ended about 2:00 AM.

It's a nice hotel, good rates, but bring earplugs!

Dan S.

BTW, the restaurant upstairs has free WiFi, for the computer nerds among us.

How can o get in touch with the Hotel Milano

Fran

I was just going to post this question! I have been trying to call the number listed on the website for 3 days at all times of the day. I either get a busy signal for 4 hours straight or no one answers.

Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in San Juan?

I'm looking for a reasonable room pre-cruise for end of March 2008.

A room for 4 adults. Just looking for clean room. Don't care about all the extra's. Would like to be close to the city and restaurants.

Lois, We are on the same cruise (Mar 7 2008) - and I just booked the Sheraton San Juan for the night before (via Priceline) also at $100.

Do you know if the ship is leaving from the piers across the street or from the Pan American Pier across the bay?

MShannon, A BIG HELLO:D please come over to the ROLL CALL Board

and say hello to us!

We only have about 4 of us who chat but we are almost at 1,000

postings;)

Anyway, the ship sails from the Pan American Pier.

I have yet to purchase airfare.....prices right now are just

too much:eek:

Thanks Lois, I'll drop by the Roll Call - perhaps later this week. I also need to sign up on Celebrity's CC Party list.

Thanks for the heads up on the pier.

Michele.

I booked the hotel Milano for one night due to recommendations from this board. We will be staying there this Sat. Feb. 10 pre cruise, you might try them.

Hi Pittypat! Saw that you stayed at Hotel Milano precruise, how was it? We ended up having to arrive in San Juan a day before the cruise due to airline connection changes. I'd appreciate any comments about your stay!

Thanks!

Hi: We are thinking about taking the AOS on april 6, 2008. WE will probly spend a day in san juan. Has any one stayed at a hotel in condado? I have a tour book and the prices seem to be a lot cheaper than old s j

That's true. Old San Juan hotels are generally more expensive than Condado or Isla Verde (near airport). The Condado is a convenient location with a lots of nightlife, casinos, restaurants, etc. I have stayed in hotels in both areas and never had a bad experience.

hi Carolrick: thanks for your info. Coild you tell me where you stayed in Condado adn isla Verde?

I used to go on business quite often to San Juan. My favorite hotel was El Covento in old San Juan - that was when prices were in $100 range. My next favorite is the Normandie, which also has taken a huge price increase. On the Condado, I have stayed at El Canario on the Lagoon, Comfort Inn and a few others. It is easier getting to the Pan Am pier (RCL, Celebrity ships) from the Condado. For the other cruise lines, Old San Juan is closer. But getting around in a cab anywhere in the area is convenient and not too costly. I have stayed at Hampton Inn in Isla Verde. Some hotels are better than others but price is usually what I use. Precruise on Friday and Saturday can be very expensive because so many ships leave on Sat and Sun (at least in the winter). If you have a specific hotel, maybe I can help. I think I stayed at more than half the hotels in the area...

CarolRick,

We plan a two-day precruise stay in San Juan in March 2008. We are flying in Friday morning. We heard the Wyndham was a nice place to stay. How expensive is it? Can you recommend any nearby restaurants and nightlife? Thank you.

The Wyndham is a very nicee hotel; probably one of the better ones on the Candado. As such, it is higher than the average hotel there. I have been bidding on pricleine for precruise in January but made a cancellable reservation with Comfort Inn (Condado district) for about $130 including taxes. It is next to the Holiday Inn Express. For places to go, we like the local cafes in Old San Juan. It is an easy cab ride from the Condado as long as it is not rush hour (rush hour here is as bad as NYC). I don't really remember the local restauraunt names....
