smeyer418 Posted February 18, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Ok now that I have looked around its time for a little more. The food and service throughout the ship was just about perfect. The weather was great(suffer those of you who were in NY for the worst weather in years). We were aboard the QM2 in September and the food and service in the Main NCL restaurants was better than Britannia. We also ate at Cagney's, Le Bistro and Salsa and all were very good to excellent(a couple of minor complaints but the food was really great). The islands were interesting we only took one NCL Tour and either rented cars or went on our own. St Johns was wonderful. St Martins we found the nicest beach(friars beach) and had a marvelous time. The room was kept spotless(except when we were in it). The entertainment was ok but I didn't like the piano player in Gatsby's as much as I like Ms. Stanley---too many same jokes over and over each night. Second City was ok. Perfect weather except as Great Stirrup Cay but I always wanted to walk out to the lighthouse and the airfield and enjoyed doing that and the sun did come out for three hours.... ask me a question and I will tell you no lies.... above sea level cruiser Posted February 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Do you have any information on the azipod problem?
bigfoot88 Posted February 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Food in the dining rooms. We were on the Spirit last year, there was alway steak and chicken on the menu along with the fare of the day. Was that the case on the Dawn?
smeyer418 Posted February 18, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Do you have any information on the azipod problem? No we arrived back early in fact. But they were only using three engines. The fastest we went was 24.3 knots.....

Intrepid Posted February 18, 2007 #13 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Can't wait to hear more on your cruise -- how were the ports? Any special tips for those of us who are doing this itinerary next? You can rent a scooter in St. Martin! Just ask the guards at the entrance to the port parking lot and they'll arrange it for you. We had a blast riding all over the island and hitting the beaches. smeyer418 Posted February 18, 2007 Author #14 Share Posted February 18, 2007 I would rent a car unless you really are scooter/motorcycle savy. The roads are not well maintained. We had a blast too....by car...

Welove2cruise2 Posted February 19, 2007 #20 Share Posted February 19, 2007 Great pictures Sidney! I especially love the picture of Dog Island -- it's amazing how much it really does look like a dog! Intrepid: no scooters for us! You haven't seen my DH on a bicycle! It's downright dangerous! We're already planning to take the Orient Beach excursion again -- that was great! Jackie: no upsell :( -- the ship appears to be sold out!! We're still looking forward to a wonderful time -- third time's a charm on the Dawn!;)
