azsunshine Posted March 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2007 Has anyone heard anything more about this? If this has been covered, I apologize, I can't find any information. bunny1954 Posted March 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2007 Googled this in every format that I could think of with no results. One thing I did learn by going to the Carnival website is that it doesn't appear that the Imagination is even going to St Maarten unless they have just changed their schedule. From 17 March on, they are scheduled for Key West and Calica or Grand Cayman and Jamaica.
azsunshine Posted March 6, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted March 6, 2007 so strange. That is from the Daily Herald in Phillipsburg. The Daily Herald Bush Road 22, P.O.Box 828, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles

bunny1954 Posted March 6, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 6, 2007 Still doesn't matter as far as I can see. The Inspiration is working out of Tampa and doesn't appear to be docking in St Maarten either.
DanusLight Posted March 6, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2007 According to cruisecal.com the only ships in St. Maarten were the Valor and the Triumph. Kinda of odd that the local newspaper got the name of the ship wrong.
SouthernCaribbean Posted March 6, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2007 At times reporters mixed up the names of the ships, happens quite often. Prayers are with the family.

Cruiser Joe Posted March 7, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 7, 2007 I bet there is more to this story than we have been told. I'm not saying there was criminal activity involved, but I am guessing there were other reasons she was there.

azsunshine Posted March 8, 2007 Author #17 Share Posted March 8, 2007 And she left her 80 year old mother on board the Valor to sail away by herself, and say "oh, mom will be fine" I don't need to call anyone. huh??? I think I will just rent a hotel room here for a few days and enjoy the sites. I think this is early alzheimer's raising its head.
kujobie Posted March 8, 2007 #18 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Funny. It seems she had difficulty flying out due to the fact that her passport was on the ship. Maybe the sky IS falling.. I wonder how much that hotel and sandwich cost her because she didn't have her passport?

I'm not saying there was criminal activity involved, but I am guessing there were other reasons she was there. That is the strangest story Ive heard in a while:rolleyes: I cant imagine anyone missing the ship and then having the police finally find her,and she cant figure out why they were looking for her:confused: Okaaaaay, if that was me, I would have been looking for the police, right. Her poor mother. And I know that I would have been crying hysterically ...... no, something doesnt add up

oceanstogo Posted March 8, 2007 #23 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Let me get this straight....a 15 year old girl, on a cruise with her mother, was allowed to get off the ship ALONE and 'see the sights'?? I'm sorry, but what mother in her right mind would allow this??? The last time DH and I cruised with our son, he was 17, and we wouldn't let him off the ship without us. Something's just not adding up here.

caribbean dreams Posted March 8, 2007 #25 Share Posted March 8, 2007 I'm sorry but if i missed the ship and was left on the Island with my family still on board, i think i would go directly to the police, port authorites or somebody who could get me in touch, i wouldn't get a hotel, sightsee and have lunch and then act shocked when I found out people were lookng for me.
