Le Bistro on Majesty?

Hi Everyone,

 

Has anyone been on the Majesty recently? I was wondering if they offer the 1/2 price special from 5:30 - 6:30 at LeBistro. Also does anyone have any recent menus? I am sailing on her Sunday and want to figure out wich night to go. We have a coupon book from NCL that offers 1/2 off LeBistro the first night only.

Hi, I was on the Majesty for the 4/7 sailing. They are still offering the 1/2 price cover charge for reservations 5:30 - 6 p.m.; I'm not positive whether or not this was for every night, but I think it was.

 

Wish I could help with menus; I would have liked to try Le Bistro but the rest of the people in my party were outraged with the idea of paying extra for meals :D and so it goes...

Just an FYI:

 

While the food and service in Majesty's Le Bistro is pretty good, I did find the atmosphere to be a little too 'intimate' for me,...some of the tables for two are so close together that you can reach over and grab the salt shaker from the table next to you. If you're wanting private conversation, I'm afraid you'll not find it there.

 

Have a great time; she's a very nice smaller ship,...I enjoyed her very much.

The Mushroom Soup in the Sourdough Bread Bowl was fantastic in Le Bistro on the Majesty. I ordered it again when we were on the Dawn this past winter, but it was way too salty for me.

Hope you enjoy the Majesty and Le Bistro.

Thanks guys for all the help! Have not sailed on her since she was the Royal Majesty. Hope to have a full review up for you guys when I get back!

Anthony you'll find she still has all the charm of way back then.. although back then there was a quasi atrium with a staircase down into the casino and pursers area thats gone now.. plus after the stretch there's an additional pool behind the pool bar heading up to the all night pizza bar..

You should ha ve booked it on your own. We have cruised with friends and done the specialty restuarants on our own. After all it is just one night, one meal.

 

We love crusing with friends but we also like it when we go our own way some-I feel everyone has a better time when we are not constantly together.

Yes, 1/2 off seatings reserved between 5:30-6:00 not good on "Chef Tasting Menu"

Couldn't decide at the beginning of the week -- then it seemed to book up fast near the end (even though when walking by in the evening - it seemed to have lots of vacancy!?)

Heard good things about the quality of the food from other passengers.

We took advantage of the 1/2 price deal, what a bargain. The french onion soup was the best I have ever had. Try the warm carmelized onion and goat cheese tart, fantastic!

 

The tables are a bit close, but we met the nicest couple who were on this cruise as a substitute for the one that was cancelled, we had a great conversation.

 

definately try le bistro, especially for 1/2 price

escargot (i order 2 - they don't charge extra)

mushroom soup (or)

onion soup

the filet (and get the surf & turf if at sea - i think its shrimp on port nights)

chocolate fondue

it used to be an all male waiter service line. now its all ladies. and they are proud to outdo their former male counterparts. we have dinner there 2x every trip!

no more chocolate fondue:(, I asked. But everything else was Fab, even at full price it is a bargain.

We are sailing on the Majesty 6/17 and were thinking of doing Le Bistro one night. We have been on the Majesty before, but did not eat at Le Bistro. So, a couple of questions, if you don't mind.

 

1) what is the actual cost? Is it a surcharge per person, and that's it, or a surcharge AND you pay for the food?

 

We are sailing with our two teens, and 2 other couples (8 total, just in case caffeine hasn't kicked in yet:D ). I know the restaurant is small, but we were thinking of all dining there together one night, as the other couples are both celebrating anniversaries, and wanted us all (including my kids) to celebrate together. So:

 

2) would you think it would be okay for the teens to eat there as well? Would other diners be put off by that? (I realize that makes this technically three questions.)

I believe the cost is $15 per person, $20 if you get the surf and turf. The old menus are in my Majesty Menu album and the new ones are in my Dawn 11/26/06 menu album, both in my webshots link below. The menus on the Dawn are from the first week of the new menus and they were just copied pages, not printed on the real menus yet. They may have even changed since then. You can probably do a search for Le Bistro Menu and find something more recent.

I don't see a problem bringing teens to Le Bistro as long as they're well behaved.

The menu has two tiers the first tier is $15 per person, the second tier is I believe $25 per person, these prices include your food.

 

The first tier is very nice, entrees include filet mignon w/short rib, duck a'laronge, and a couple others, also included is salad, appetizer, soup and dessert.

 

The second tier is called the chefs tasting menu, and has a menu of things the chef feels go well together, these include a surf & turf, also chateaubriand carved tableside, and additional dessert choices.

 

We were more than happy with the first tier menu, and this menu is offered at half price, for reservations at 5:30 or 6:00, the second tier is not avaliable at half price at any time.

We sailed on the Majesty last year and ate at Le Bistro at a table for 8. No one even noticed that DD was along (she was 13). I think there was one other table with a teen. The restaurant is very small, and isn't the quietest when filled.

No. You'll have to wait until you are aboard to reserve a table at a specific time. Of course, there are Bon Voyage gifts you can purchase prior to sailing which includes a diner at a speciality restaurant, but you still have to reserve a table for the time you wish once you are aboard.
