cruisead Posted August 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Does anyone who watches QVC regularly know why in heaven's name that woman who sells Model's Prefer cosmetics always puts her hair in rollers when she's selling the product? It absolutely drives me nuts whenever I see that woman in her rollers. My sisters and I have been trying to figure that one out for a while now. madelinerose Posted August 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Stacey does this so she can show that even though she was once an international model, she has rollers in her hair and no makeup on first thing in the morning just like the rest/some of us do. She's trying to appeal to the audience. When her entire face is made up, she then removes the rollers and shows how gorgeous she is with her makeup and hair finished. IMHO, I think it's a good marketing tool, since she isn't initially on camera looking gorgeous and the audience thinks she wakes up that way. She'll also do it in the evening, so the audience knows that even if you're a model, there's still work to be done. I suppose there really are viewers who think models are gorgeous 24/7. Sorry the rollers drive you nuts - lol! I think it's funny to watch her go from plain to glam. :D
mirrajay Posted August 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I think its great also! I love to see the transformation. I think she also does it to show HOW to put the makeup on and how easy it really is. Its one of my fav shows on QVC even though I have never bought any of the prodcuts. CruisinMatt Posted August 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2004 I can't decide who is more entertaining: Stacey with the rollers or Nick Chavez with the flocker! :D
pollux Posted August 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2004 KOOS of course is the most entertaining.
cruisead Posted August 10, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Koos is a dirty old man. I get such a kick out of him trying to feel up all the models. Stan Herman is the same way. I tried that flocker stuff and no matter what I do, that stuff just doesn't work the same as it does for him. BTW, did you all see Nick Chavez's house in Arizona? WOW And then you have the Quacker woman. What's with the headband? Her sweaters are really cute and I've bought a lot of her holiday sweaters. GucciGal Posted August 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2004 I get a kick out of the Models Prefer lady,I have bought some of her line, and I like it. I love Nick Chavez,I don't know what I did before the flocker,as I have black hair in a pixie and it does wonders. I think the Quacker Factory clothes are cute, but not for me. JanetMarie Posted August 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Oh, good one!!! I love Nick Chavez. I get his "flocker," and absolutely love it! As a matter of fact, I'm on that automatic delivery schedule for it. ;)
CruisinMatt Posted August 10, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 10, 2004 And then you have the Quacker woman. What's with the headband? Some say it's her "Quacker crown", who knows? A caller once asked about it and she evaded the question. Do you think she's hiding something? There is also that Breezies lady that always wears headbands too, but a different style. makeup face Posted August 10, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Just love Models Prefer Aquafusion Neutralizing Pressed Powder...love it ;) Use the Flocker everyday....for my oh so fine hair...Nick cracks me up...everyone is "honey"! The Quacker woman nor her clothes.....do a thing for me :( Koos is a dirty old man....but I love to watch him :D Kathy ....the Breezies lady has a one of a kind laugh. I like her bras! AND....I spent too much money on Saturday's Fashion Day
lszu Posted August 10, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 10, 2004 My fave is Sally from Birkenstock. She has so much energy! I love Birks anyway, but think she's adorable. Appraently Koos is not only a dirty old man, but a real jerk, too. I had heard on another board that he said something to Patti Reilly about her weight and then when Jacque Gonzales was going to visit her mom after she got married (her mom had been ill), Koos said something sarcastic about "what kind of honeymoon is that. I do like Jeanne Bice and think some of her stuff is really cute. I have a few different Quacker outfits. I like Kathy from Breezies and love her stuff (actually like her daughters line better for bras). Nick Chavez is a maniac and must be a lot of fun to hang out with. I use Peter Coppola's hair products, though. Product-wise I think my favorites are Bare Escentuals and Philosophy.
madelinerose Posted August 10, 2004 #13 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Quacker crown - love that!!! LOL  I don't get that headband thing either and she wears it all the time, not just on the air. Perhaps she sweats or something? Love Nick Chavez.....gorgeous, gorgeous house. See how well he's doing from all of our purchases? I love the flocker and all the thickening products. I used Nick's and Peter's products. Don't really enjoy Koos or his fashions. And there's that apron....... Kathy from Breezies is a hoot and so is Birki Sally. She's always kicking that leg in the air. What's that all about? Glad she stopped singing "The Thong Song". I do love Birk's also, Iszu. Today I received the washable suede jacket with fringe that was the TSV on fashion day - absolutely love it and it fits perfectly. I got the green and it makes my green eyes even more green. Now, if it would only get rid of wrinkles! Have a good evening, girls!:D
CruisinMatt Posted August 11, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 11, 2004 I'm just noticing that nobody has mentioned Joan Rivers................... ;)
cruisead Posted August 11, 2004 Author #15 Share Posted August 11, 2004 Joan, bleepin, Rivers? After she insulted the widows of the firemen lost in the WTC bombing in one of her "comedy" acts in NY only a few months after the tragedy, I absolutely refuse to even watch, much less buy, any of her items. lszu Posted August 11, 2004 #18 Share Posted August 11, 2004 I get a kick out of the thong song! Especially when she had MaryBeth (proper, straightlaced MaryBeth) doing it! I think Jeanne Bice wears the headband because she sweats. I heard her say something about that last night. Apparently when she was presenting her one of the five TSVs today David Venable and Rick Domeier came out wearing the TSV top and headbands. I tried to stay up, but missed that. I did order the black one for myself and two others as Christmas gifts, though. I got that suede fringe TSV is the eggplant. Got mine yesterday. Can't wait to get my Markon suede boots in plum to see if they are close enough in color to wear together. I'd like to hear the Joan Rivers story, too. makeup face Posted August 11, 2004 #19 Share Posted August 11, 2004 I didn't move fast enough to get the Markon suede boots I wanted :( I'd like to know the Joan Rivers story also
lszu Posted August 11, 2004 #20 Share Posted August 11, 2004 The plum ones go with the eggplant jacket. Not exactly the same color, but close enough considering one will be on my top half and the other on my feet. I have these boots in black already. They are super comfie. madelinerose Posted August 12, 2004 #21 Share Posted August 12, 2004 Iszu, yes, I did like it when Sally would do the Thong Song with Mary Beth. She's so straightlaced and just the opposite of the free spirited Sally. It certainly was quite a contrast. I guess the Thong Song didn't really get on the old nerves that much after all :). So glad the Markon's go with the jacket. I never like to match things perfectly, anyway. I like to mix it up. This fall they're wearing tweeds (really hot) with plaids and stripes and whatever. As long as the base color is similar, it works. Have a great weekend, everyone.
kitty9 Posted August 13, 2004 #22 Share Posted August 13, 2004 I've heard about that Joan Rivers business also. I guess she was doing her stand up routine in Atlantic City or maybe at one of the Indian casinos in the New York area and started saying things about the firemen widows and how they're going to be in demand now that they're going to be getting the big pensions and any of victim's payments that the families of those killed received. She apparently was booed loudly and had to explain herself the next day by saying she's a comic and it's part of her job, but she never apologized. I love Dennis Basso's voice. I sound like him when I have bronchitis. I still miss Kathy Levine. It was a mistake for her to leave thinking she was going to do a national talk show. Her clothing line hasn't done well on HSN. I've seen some of her things and they really are not very good looking. Anyone know what happened to Steve Bryant?
Rare Lois R Posted August 13, 2004 #23 Share Posted August 13, 2004 Darcie:) hi, Steve Bryant left a few years ago...supposedly I think he was going into the music business......(many many years ago he was a DJ)...but......the only place I have ever seen him is on the Ron Popeil's Infomercials:eek:
Patgo Posted August 13, 2004 #24 Share Posted August 13, 2004 I still miss Kathy also. She should have stayed but I guess she is happily married and probably happy doing whatever she is doing. I don't like her line os HSN either. I got another citiknits outfit yesterday. Navy Blue tunic top and pants and I like it very much. Pants too long but I can roll them up. What is Jayne Tracey doing now? I also have seen Steve on infomercials. Pat
lszu Posted August 13, 2004 #25 Share Posted August 13, 2004 Patgo - Jane Tracey has a web site. It's, um, janetracey.com (don't hold it against me if that's wrong). She's got some cute pics of her kids on there and I think she's developing a silver jewelry line. kitty9 - I love Dennis Basso's voice, too. I love the way he so obviously favors Iris, the model. I get such a kick out of her.
