Can any one explain why the MClass shipped are no longer doing fall cruises to Hawaii ??

It appears Mercury is the only ship doing the RT Hawaii's, and we have not been on Mercury since 2001. The M-Class ships have us hooked !

Thank you !

I think it's simply a matter of deploying the M-Class ships where X feels they will be most productive. The winter 2007-2008 Australia-New Zealand cruises are proving very popular and all the veranda cabins are long since wait-listed. Millennium (one of the M-Class) has more verandas than Mercury (C-Class) and has a slightly higher passenger capacity. So it makes sense that Celebrity would deploy her on a route on which bookings are doing so well.

The other M-Class ships are also spoken for across this period. Connie's Canada-New England and longer Caribbean cruises are also popular and usually sell at premium prices. Infinity has had good success in South America.

Summit will remain in Europe into November 2008 (I think) and then cruise 7-night itineraries out of San Juan for a brief period before presumably returning to Europe in April 2009. She is also cruising out of San Juan this coming winter. If the winter 2007-2008 cruises do not sell well then it's possible that she could be put back on the Hawaii run in a couple years. But pricing was soft on this past season's Hawaii cruises, which I believe caused X to take M-Class ships off of these itineraries.

Mercury was the only ship in the fleet without obvious itineraries for winter 2008-2009 (since Millie is taking over the southwest Pacific). Although many of us enjoyed her Mexican Riviera cruises, they were not big money-makers for Celebrity. So it makes sense that she would be deployed on Hawaii and Canal cruises. She'll make more for X than if she were in Mexico; it's a good use for the ship in between Alaska seasons.
