I do wish you would read properly. I fully realize the danger in any city in any country but at least in Canada and I presume in the US you can turn to the police for help. In Mexico it's the police that are the bad guys.

Just some missing blanks that don't make sense to me. Why is it the margaritas that did it? The cc friend was the one who raped you? How doy ou know if you were raped if you don't remember anything? Your things may have been taken but how do you know you were raped?

 

The reason why I said this is because there was another girl on the shipboard love stories who made a similar allegation and it was on a Carnival ship. Interestingly, her name was Gina also!

There is no way you have read this thread in it's entirety. Mommabean has said multiple times she does not think she was raped. I know they did. And this is why it is so unlikely that this happened to them. Things that are extremely unlikely happen on occasion, but they don't happen often. This is why they are considered unlikely. If women escorted by men are getting drugged (by other than the man they are with) all over the place, all of the time, than this tale becomes much more cautionary. As it is, it is a very unfortunate, but isolated incident. Thank God!!!

Unfortunitly, only the bad things get reported about the Canadian health care system. My father needed a bypass two years ago and was fast-tracked and had it done within days of diagnosis. My 90 year old mother-in-law recently had bowel surgery hours after beeing admitted for pain. The system is geared to who needs it first. For those that think they need it and have to wait, there are more needy people in front of them.

 

The fact that "it doesn't work in practise for most people" clearly shows ignorance of the Canadian system. If the US system is so good, why are you posting on a cruise web site about your problem and not seeking the health care you need?

 

I was quoting the Canadians I spoke with. I didn't say that. I guess they are the ones ignorant of their own system. I did seek the help I needed at this time.

No offense meant, I'm sure you mean well, but really, it's good you are still in college. I know college students learn to question everything, but in time, perhaps you will learn at times, just "I'm sorry" will do.

 

I understand how its much easier to say Im sorry but in my opinion, there are many cases where drunken stupor and negligence is often mistaken for other things. The situation could have possibly been an attempt to drug a tourist but I find it questionable due to the fact nothing happened to her. She felt tipsy with a clouded conscience and bought stuff. I dont know many people out there trying to drug people in the hopes they would buy stuff they would not normally buy.

 

I do question many things because I have been in and out of many hospitals (for school) and have seen many "rape" cases turn out to be false and girls admitting later that they made a bad decision and didnt want to admit it was their fault. Many people do not take responsibility for their actions and therefore we have a downfall of society. I have seen girls that have been brutally taken advantage of and women that ended up lieing to cover their butts. This honestly just doesnt seem like a case of drugging someone. If she was drugged, and really felt something was done to her against her will, why would she wait days to ask about a test? If it were that bad, why would she not go to an Emergency room in Miami when the police department did nothing?

 

There are many variables that dont make sense in my opinion to make the case credible. I know Im not a professional and am still young in many peoples eyes but I do have some real world exposure to situations of this nature.

I'm reading perfectly fine. If you are randomly drugged in any tourist area in America, good luck finding the perpetrator. Unless you know the perp, even aggressive, red-white-and blue police will tell you that there is very little they can do. In these cases, it is up to the individual to protect themselves as much as possible. As someone has already mentioned, these types of drugs can just as easily be mixed in your chip dip before it is brought to your table. Good luck catching that. And if some nefarious idiot so chooses, he may just as likely be wearing a Chili's uniform as a sombrero.

Its a public forums... If someone has the right to post something, why wouldnt someone have the right to ask questions about it. There are always 2 sides to each arguement (usually 3...both sides, then the truth) so why get fussy about peoples responses? Do you know exactly what happened?

 

I could come on here tomorrow and yell rape but that doesnt make it true... The only things I feel should be moderated are racial remarks, sexist remarks..that kind of OFFENSIVE stuff.

No one has said anything about being raped, I don't know where you got that idea. And we just stated the drinks we had. I had 3 bottled beers we opened, and two Margaritas made by two different bars. I drink more than that almost every weekend, and we started late in the day so it wasn't the sun. I'm not making any allegations, just stating facts.

I too am distressed by people that have commented without reading the thread (i.e. the guy who said she was raped{she was not}, and the poster who said nothing happened to her {she was robbed}). I simply took offense at all of the Maha and Mexico bashing. If that makes me worthy of removal, then I too would question the tone of this thread.

The problem with the post is this...If I accused you of robbery and picked you out of a lineup, and you didnt commit it... How do you feel? For her to say she was drugged at a certain bar with no evidence, heck, nothing even bad happening to her, how can you verify her claim? I went back and re-read the first post:

 

On Wednesday my Carnival cruise stopped in Costa Maya. I took the bus with my sister and a cc friend to Majahual. I had only 2 margaritas and lost most of my memory. This was no alcohol. I began buying buying things I didn't want. My sister did, too. Our cc friend who only drank beer thought we just got weird and wanted to buy stuff. We definitely weren't raped or our friend would know it. He got us back to the ship but all my money was taken out of my zippered side compartment of my bag. I know it was there because I had a lot and plenty of ones for tip money. It was there, we had to go before the ship left without us, I got in the taxi and my money was gone.

 

 

To be honest, when I first read this first post i thought it was a joke until she said she went to the Miami police about the situation. I thought it was a joke that she was out having a good time buying stuff that she normally wouldnt because she was having a good time.

 

So what happened to her? She had a couple drinks and she purchased things she didnt want. Even the friend thought she just wanted to buy stuff. After making purchases, she notices all her money is gone. Now she stated she couldnt remember anything. So did she drop the money? Did she spend it? Did she give to much money when purchasing an item and the shop person didnt say anything? To many variables and even the friend thought she just wanted to purchase stuff...Im not to clear on the bad things that happened.

Again, we are just stating facts, where we ate and drank, what we ate and drank, and how we felt and acted afterwards, we are not blaming anyone or any establishment. And I would love to go back to Majahual on another cruise, the beach is beautiful and the people are friendly (maybe a little too much somtimes), but I will only drink bottled beer. Please note that we were still awake when we got back to the ship, showered and changed clothes, ate chocolate melting cake in the dining room after everyone else was done, and went to the lobby bar and had another drink and did some other uncharacteristic things. We were definitely not drunk. In fact we went to the talent show afterwards, but I don't remember much of that, either.

Ummmm,lets see:confused: ..............robbery and drugged.............maybe thats not a bad thing to someone who has friends that drink so much, they dont remember what happened and wake up to a soaking wet bed(your words,not mine)........ But in my circle of friends,robbery and drugs would be pretty high up on the "Bad"list.......
