illusions_on_the_sea Posted May 20, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted May 20, 2007 thanks. I have a friend who married a woman from Cuba and they go back every so often. ( We are not American by the way lol) He says he has seen some cruise ships come in there but can't remember which ones.
jcanino Posted May 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2007 He says he has seen some cruise ships come in there but can't remember which ones. Fred Olsen Cruises has called on ports in Cuba in the past.

cp556 Posted May 20, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2007 I hope that the situation changes to permit US passengers to visit and spend money in Cuba. I was part of a US-sanctioned travel agent group that traveled to Cuba in 2003, and it was a lifechanging trip. It's a beautiful country, and I consider myself fortunate to have seen it ... OHCruisinDad Posted May 20, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2007 Pullmantur used to visit Cuba but when RCL bought them, the Cuban ports had to be dropped. I don't know if any other cruise line is stoppingthere at the present time.
Grandpaul Posted May 20, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2007 My nephew married a Cuban girl and he's been there many times. He says it will be a great cruise destination. It was a great tourist stop in the 50's.
bigwally Posted May 20, 2007 #9 Share Posted May 20, 2007 I personally think it's one of America's stupidest policies. For crying out loud, we can be buddy-buddy with freakin' Chinese communists, but not with Cuba for a so-called "crisis" nearly a half a century ago? Sekhmet Posted May 21, 2007 #13 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Hello, everyone,Does anyone know of a cruise line that visits Cuba? Thanks. The German line Arosa also calls in Cuba - their Arosa Blu was there when we were staying in Havana. The only drawback is language - if you don't understand German, it might be a problem. CPT Trips Posted May 21, 2007 #14 Share Posted May 21, 2007 I personally think it's one of America's stupidest policies. For crying out loud, we can be buddy-buddy with freakin' Chinese communists, but not with Cuba for a so-called "crisis" nearly a half a century ago? The "old" Cubans are a large voting block in a pivotal state. I don't expect things to change until after Nov. 2008 unless El Jefe or his bro go first. And until Wally World stops being friendly to the Chinese or they kill more of our dogs, they are golden.
AarrowOM Posted May 29, 2007 #15 Share Posted May 29, 2007 There is a cruise ship docked at the Terminal San Maestra in Google Earth imagery. (When I was in Cuba (on an educational license) earlier this year, I did not even realize that it was a cruise terminal!) I agree that the US embargo is pointless, but as CPT Trips points out, we may have to wait a while longer.
