shamrox91 Posted May 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2007 We are sailing on the Explorer to Bermuda in October and want to go to Portofino one night to celebrate our daughter's 19th birthday. What is the dress code? When we went on the Mariner 3 years ago, we went to Chops and I wore a skirt and lightweight summer sweater and my hubby wore Dockers and a Caribbean Joe shirt. Do the guys need to wear shirts & ties? Want to be sure I have this right so the guys can pack accordingly. Also, since we want to go for her birthday will they do anything special for her if we tell them? Thanks
cb at sea Posted May 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2007 Suggested dress is "Smart Casual"--that being said, about 1/2 the men wore jackets, the rest wore polo shirts--no ties. It's up to you! Just look clean!

As for the birthday, they always do something nice for my daughter. :)

Lowcountrygal Posted May 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2007 We dined at Portofino on formal night and wore our formal attire (long gown for me, black suit for DH) and were not out of place. In fact, many others wore their formal attire too. On another evening, it was smart casual for us (DH wore a jacket but no tie with dressy slacks, I wore a dressy skirt with a sleeveless sweater. That was also appropriate. It will be a wonderful evening -- they will make it special for your daughter's bday too. Enjoy! Rose
suezyq50 Posted May 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2007 We saw a wide range of dress. One man had one a sports coat, with sandals. Another man had on a polo shirt with tennis shoes. Most men had on button down shirts with dress pants. Women had on sundresses or dressy tops and nice pants.
