Sugar Free Syrup

We're going on a cruise to Alaska in July on Summit. My dad is diabetic and is wondering if he should bring sugar-free syrup or if it will be available on the ship.

Yes,it's available.Your dad should also talk to the assisant maitre d at the beginning of the cruise,telling him/her that he's diabetic,

They'll ensure that he's served appropriate entrees,veggies,desserts,etc.Enjoy.:)

Yes, the sugarfree syrup in in individual packages at the waffle station. But carbs are a major contributor to sugar spikes. I am sure he already knows this.

Two years ago we sailed with a friend that was diabetic. The first night she spoke with the waiter about it. Everynight he would bring the next nights menu to her and discuss what she felt she could eat and he explained all the food choices for her. She had a most enjoyable and very healthy cruise. The Celebrity staff is beyond good in situations like this. Have a great cruise.

Yes they do have it on the ship. They also have excellent sugar-free desserts available in the dining room.

I am diabetic and recently sailed on the Century.

 

I saw the sugar free syrup at the pancake and waffle station.

 

As your father probably knows it is the food choices that he makes that will be the determining factor as to how well he controls his blood sugar on a cruise. Also factor in level of activity.

 

I did not discuss my diabetes with anyone, just simply ate what I knew I should be eating. There are so many wonderful choices that it was not a problem at all. Also used the gym and the stairs!

 

Now, if I was on a sodium free diet that would be an entirely different matter!

Keep in mind that sugar free is not necessarily Carb free--wish they would have carb counts not just fat count on items...
