Flying into Newark precruise hotel ????

Hello, I will be flying into Newark Oct 2nd and need to find a hotel to stay that I can access the pier in Bayonne easily. I've heard different things about Jersey City and I'm not sure if it's close or not. Any advice I can get will be appreciated.

Jersey City is about 5 miles from Bayonne Cruise port. We have stayed at the Hyatt in Jersey City thru Priceline before (Friday nights at a bid of $45).

The hotel is listed as a 3* but all the hotels in this area is within a 1/2 mile to each other (Doubletree, Courtyard, Candlewood Suites). Trip to the port should be 15 - 20 minutes by taxi. Nice thing is that you can get into New York for a side trip on the PATH train (stations are next to these hotels or within one or two city blocks) $2 each way. Hope this helps, Have a great time.
