cruisingfreak Posted June 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2007 Does anyone know if there are ATM machines onboard the Tahitian Princess? I know there were machines to convert $'s into Euros, when cruising the Med. Wondering if the same were true for cruising Tahiti. Minette

dom_nique Posted June 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2007 You can also withdraw cash at the purser's desk using your credit card. You tell them how much you want and they'll give it to you and charge it to your card. They can convert US dollars to French Polynesian francs but not to New Zealand dollars. They'll also cash travellers' cheques at the desk.
Spikesgirl Posted June 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2007 The one snag we ran into on the ship was that while they would convert dollars into CFP (and NZD when we were on board in '04), they would not buy anything back. We had to make our exchange at the airport or a local bank in Papeete. Charlie
trixie54 Posted June 25, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Did the ship just add the cash into the total credit card charge at the end, or actually withdraw it from your card at the time, so that you'd have to pay daily interest on it like a regular cash transaction using the cc? They would withdraw it from your card at the time. Also, I should note that the ship charges a fee for doing this- I think it was 2% but not sure (so if you withdraw 500$ using your credit card, they would charge you a 10$ fee). trixie54 Posted June 25, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2007 That's what I thought - which starts a nice little daily interest tab with VISA. Guess I'll bring traveler's cheques.
