Dave & Julie Posted July 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Sailing soon on Mariner and wish to use laptop in the cabin. Stateroom is on deck 8, midship. Based on your experience, should we be OK? If not, can I pay extra for laptop connection in the cabin? Thanks.
firstcruise05 Posted July 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2007 I'm trying to remember why our laptop didn't work on the cruise. I believe there was a special hookup that you had to request and pay for. It ended up just being more convenient for us to go to the internet cafe and pay for minutes. Being Midship on Deck 8 (which is exactly where we were) is right next to the internet cafe. IIRC, the laptop only worked in certain areas of the ship and our cabin was not one of those areas...but if we brought it to the internet cafe it worked... which is probably why we stopped using it. My DH got super skilled at using the least amount of minutes possible. When sending an email he would only log on long enough to get to the body of the post. Then he would log off and type. When he was ready to send he would log back on, send, and then log back off (unless he had another email to send) Edited to add: Here you go, this thread may help a little: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=5824156#post5824156
