We had a tour that last 5 hours.

Most of the city tour was interesting. 2 hours were spent shopping. What a waste of time.

Many emerald shops and clerks don't understand the word no.

We bought coffee from a vendor recommended by tour guide at convent on top of the mountain. We got taken. the coffee was stale. I am sure the guide got a kick back.

this was not a big problem - one must remember in thses countries the policy is buyer beware. I knew the risk I was taking but couldn't resist temptation.

As a vendor in Costa Rica explained to me - don't buy coffee in Central America, all the good quality product is exported.
