What is your fav. Souvenir you got on a cruise

This is almost embarassing compared to some of yours, but it reminds me of my cruise every single day.

On our first cruise, I got an official lanyard for my S&S card (I know.... tacky!). When I got home, I hung it on the little nail behind my kitchen calendar, with the card still in it. And there they sit, more than two years later.

Know that Princess is now confiscating cruise cards upon disembarking the ships.

. . . I collect Hard Rock Cafe shot glasses (look all the same but have the place names which is quite neat), magnets for my fridge and X-mas ornaments. I find X-mas ornaments are often overpriced though (like two weeks ago I was in New York City and there was a really cool one but they were all $12.95) . . . and I'll just refuse to buy out of principle.

I'm ashamed to admit it now :o , but in 1973 when we cruised the Sitmar Fairwind, they had beautiful beach towels on the deck chairs. That was back when you reserved a specific deck chair for the entire cruise. Well, sure enough, I had to have one of those beach towels and took it the last day. I was only 20 at the time and didn't know better - that's my excuse.

I have alot of nic nax from it..my best tho are the 13 Circolo del Commandante' rock glasses, still in the wrapper..and a stack of the wonderful menues.lovvved the TSS Fairwind..those were brill sailing days..and now, from CCL...Since my apt is palm tree/monkey oriented, and I frame stuff..in the bath is the cover that your photos come in..I cropped it to fit in a square 6x6..it hangs right by the med cab...so I see a ship everyday..I'm seeing my ship for real on Moday, for 10 dayz!

I always buy a magnet for my fridge, everywhere we visit. When I go to the fridge to get some food, I always focus on any magnet, and have a fond memory. DH always gets me a piece of jewellery, every cruise we go on:) When I wear it, I always have wonderful memories as well!

I have to say I think mine are Christmas Orniments. We got on the ships and in the ports. Makes for a lot of fun putting up our tree.

I collect Christmas Ornaments as well during my travels. Great memories at the end of the year as I hand them on the tree.

Collecting on a cruise is best because I can get one at many ports. Have to say that when I was in Morocco I had a hard time finding any ornaments. :D

I'm a scrapbooker so I saved every piece of paper from my first cruise along with a journal. My favorite souveniers were the postcards that I mailed home from each port with a little note about the highlight of that visit with a local stamp and postmark.

The portraits are some of my favorite souvenirs but I also have a passion for taking pictures of the water at the edge of the ship; especially if I can get the edge of a life boat in the picture to show the contrast. :) I spend at least half my time at sea gazing over the railing so the photos really help keep the experience alive for me.

And on a more superficial note, I also love the knock-off bags you can buy in Nassau. :p

Other than collecting casino chips from cruises, I collect cards from cruises too. It wouldn't matter if they did take mine cus i accidentally on purpose loose mine quite a few times on cruises so i can get extras to take home:)

Theres actually others who collect and trade these cards too. Heres a web site of card collectors...

I like to collect something handmade from each Island...To make sure it is authentic and not "made in China", I only but a handcraft that I see being made. Wood carvings from, Belize, Roatan, Nassau...Hand woven tablecloth from Cozumel (a tour guide took us to his mothers house, and she was making them and had many beautiful ones, I gave her 10.00 more than the 10.00 she asked for, gorgeous) Piniata from Costa Maya, A hand painted feather called a "friendship feather" framed from San Juan, among my favorite hand made Island things to date. But my best souvenior is a new piece of Jewelry my husband buys me on each cruise. Last year I got my John Henry Alexandrite ring, my birthstone that I've been craving forever!! In December Guy Harvey was in his store in Grand Cayman, and he was signing autographs on anything you bought, so I thought I would surprise my husband with a few things hand signed by Guy. (I shop in GC, he vegitates at the beach) Including a lovely painting of a map of GC. My husband loved them when he opened them Christmas day, along with the pictures I took of guy hand signing them. (we are huge fans of Guy Harvey sealife paintings) I bet he will think about going to the beach next time we are in GC.

My Grandson collects inexpensive maps at each port. When he gets home, we get it framed. His room has a map of each of the islands and places he has visited. He's 15 and June will be his 8th cruise. He has a map of each of the islands in Hawaii, all the Western and Eastern Carrib islands and in June will add Southern Carrib islands. All of them are different but matted and framed the same. We go on family cruises (sister, Mom, nephew, daughters families, etc) so we each pick up an ornament from each island..one for ourself and one for the other family's homes. At Thanksgiving, we exchange the ornaments we've bought for each other. It always reminds us of the wonderful fun we had together on the cruise. It's a great new family tradition. When we open the ornament, we get excited about planning the next cruise
