I'm just about to take a cruise on the Norwegian Star. Does anyone have any hints about buying a ship's model for this ship?

Gordon

Just buy ship model on the ship! It's the easiest way. ;)

By the way for all interested there is a nice model of Celebrity Century on ebay.

Thanks so much Tatka,

I'm also looking for a small model of the SS Rotterdam, from a cruise I took on her in 1993. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear from you.

By the way, if there is anyone who would like an update on the current status of that beautiful ship, go to http://www.ssrotterdam.net/ for some current pictures.

Thanks a lot.

Gordon

Does anyone know about how much $$ RCI charges for their ship models?

They currently raised the price.. It's $25 now.. even though inside the box it says $19.99. ;)

By the way recently I was a bit disappointed.. We have many RCL models (Adventure, Brilliance, Radiance, Sovereign etc).. Recently our friend brought us Splendor of the Seas from her cruise. It doesn't look like Splendor at all , more like Enchantment of the Seas. Even though it's same size ships, they are different frtom outside.. Models should reflect real ships.

we just started with the models on the last cruise. we were on Monarch in December, saw the models and passed on them, hopefully they will have them when we go back in April. I think the ship models are a great way to commemorate the trip

My fiance and I just got off our first cruise together on the Carnival Miracle, and we kept walking over to the ship model the whole cruise, and finally on the last day, I said, "You know we're gunna kick ourselves if we don't get it, and then we decide to start collecting them" So for $25, we got it, and we're sure glad we did. Now I hope the Caribbean Princess has them when we sail her next year!

Caribbean Princess has them, but they are noticably smaller and cost $10.

:( I was hoping they would all kinda match up. Do you have one? If you do, would you happen to have a picture of it? I would imagine it would have to be really small to only cost $10 (a tiny little ship ornament on the Miracle was $10!)

The Caribbean Princess does in fact have models. I'm looking at one right now. They are small by comparison to Carnival models, but very nice.:D

Thanks everyone! I'll be picking it up anyway, even if it's smaller. If anything, I'll be saving $15!

Here is a picture of two models together:

1) Carnival Liberty in the background (Liberty is a bit bigger than Miracle, although not sure about model)

2) Side a side

Wow, I don't think my Carnival one is that big. My Carnival one looks more along the same size as the Caribbean Princess, which is good, because then it might match better!

P.S.- that's a nice collection you have there! :D

Interesting.. Our Carnival is from gift shop, same as Princess.:)

Princess models are the smallest of all.

Thank you for nice words.. We have couple more shelves, and it's still growing. :)

A friend of mine just posted a Carnival Sensation Cruise Ship replica model and a miniature ship model magnet on ebay if anyone's interested.

Search Carnival Cruise Line Sensation Ship and it should pull it up for you. Just listed tonight, ends in a few days.

I have purchased 4 models from Alexander Scherbak

scherbakshipmodels.tripod.com

(Carnival Sensation, Carnival Glory, Carnival Liberty, and Celebration). I have been been very satisfied with the detail and quality.

His models are mostly in the 1:900 SCALE and are architecturally correct. They are full hull models mounted in a nice display case with a nameplate showing the specifics of each ship. Although they are more expensive than what you buy on the ship, they are much more accurate and of higher quality. They are produced in limited quantities, and will increase in value as time goes on.

While I would love to have those, I'll stick with the $10-$20 models and put my $$ towards more cruises! :D

Well Alexander Scherbak also has a 1:1250 waterline collection, which while still pricey is much less than his 1:900 collection in the $130.00 to $170.00 range including shipping. These models are smaller and are only waterline, not full hull. So far he only had two, the Voyager of the Seas class and the Queen Mary 2, but he will be releasing the Millennium Class and Freedom of the Seas Class soon. I am very excited for the Millennium model, as I have sailed on her and always wanted a nice waterline model of her for my collection.

Here are the two models he has so far released

And here is my current collection, which includes many many 1:1250 scale liners and cruise ships, from all different manufacturers

That is a very nice collection. I have collected mostly full hull models in scale 1:500 and 1/900. I do have one waterline model which is a 1:1500 scale Carnival Celebration. Thanks for posting your pics.
